Its nice having an OL coach that makes me cautiously optimistic about any OL recruit as opposed to the opposite feeling the last few years.

Will Farrar decommitted from UCLA after his visit and says we are his "dream school". He does not have an offer yet. He also plans on visiting the Sips, so this could be a ploy to get an offer (eg. Kobe Boyce and Kary Vincent).

It'll be interesting to see what Turner does with the Farrar/Newman situation. He's already scouted Newman for an OG spot and has given him an offer but Farrar is the more highly recruited player. For a 3* OG he has a pretty impressive offer sheet (28 schools, many are household names.) I trust Turner and his evals though. Maybe he'll look over Farrars tape now that he's decommitted. I imagine he gets an offer from us if Turner checks him out

I want an elite DB recruit. Chavis always got these at LSU. With the production and development from Armani and Donavan we should be able to convince one of these recruits to commit to us right? BJ Foster is an elite defensive back for the 18 class who has visited a couple times already. If we don't land him I'm not sure what I'll do.

Sumlin has blown it with 3 (!!!!!!!) elite DBs since he's gotten here and that really ticks me off.

Swaggyp,

I could definitely be wrong... I'm sure Turner absolutely loves Newman, but the timing of the offer makes me believe it was an attempt to convunce Edward Ingram (4* OG, Desoto) to stop courting Bama.

Who are you referring too?
Do you not consider our current guys "Elite", because they weren't Five Stars?

Justin Evans, Armani Watts, Larry Pryor, Justin Dunning, and Cifford Chattman were all rated as 4-stars by at least one scouting agency. Priest Willis was a 5-star, but we are working him out at corner for now. That is pretty impressive.

5* DBs we've missed during sumlins tenure that we were thought to be favorites for early on

Kendall Sheffield (Bama)
Tony Brown (Bama)
Brandon Jones (tu)

we have at least 3 on the roster that are elite but to be fair, hes putting it lightly when saying sumlin missed on 3. Tony brown, sheffield, anderson, monroe (even though hes fron Northshore), and jones.

I know you guys are going to laugh, but we aren't going to get guys like Tony Brown and Sheffield until we build a new Track & Field stadium. Those guys are Elite Track and Field stars and they knew each other from the circuit. Our outdoor T&F stadium is in such disrepair that they can't host in the SEC. A&M wasn't as high on Anderson, but he also chose Ole Miss to run T&F too. This is also why we have lost out on some elite WR recruits, like Levonte Whitfield (FSU specialist who helped win the NC against Auburn with the kick return TD). I don't think Monroe ever really showed interest in A&M.

We have done pretty well with the baseball/football signees, because we have shown some commitment to improvement. Johnny Manziel, Kenny Hill, Kohl Stewart (signed MLB) and the midget all were enticed by other sports.

its nothing to laugh at, i know we are hurting in T&F facilities but its kind of a shame when those guys dont want to run for arguably the best sprint coach in the world. I doubt they based their decision on track anyway but still disappointing. whats sad is alot of people thought browns future was track too.
