fyi, the lead recruiter was probably really Avery Johnson. He's the captain of that AAU squad iirc. He and Soso and Hogg and all those Plano guys are on the same team. I think most are friends with Kyler too.

ETA: and both Soso and Hogg retweeted his commitment tweet

I'm hearing Avery Jr. was doing the work.

Does the basketball team have their own Daylon Mack?

Well, clearly he wanted to be closer to his parents...which is why he went to Texas Tech, which is almost as far away from Dallas as Columbus, OH is.

DFW to Columbus--925 miles

DFW to Lubbock--281 miles

Not even close.

Plus to Columbus you're pretty much stuck on a handful of direct flights via American. You can get to Lubbock on either Southwest or whoever American is using as their puddlejumpers.

I'm being sarcastic. If staying near his family was truly the deciding factor, he would have gone to SMU, UNT, or Baylor. All are within a 2 hour drive.

Because apparently we only have one more spot left and obviously Kendall is getting that. I just thought it was weird cause I thought we had space for 4

Yeah we need more depth at DB. Does he mean one spot left total or one DB spot?

Ok yeah I was gonna say sounds like Hamm is talking out his arse again I figured we would take one of Boyd or Hill for sure. Hopefully that means they have other big people lined up. Were at 20 right now, plus a spot for Sheffield and I'm sure a reserved spot for Jefferson is 22. If we are still planning on signing a second QB that's 23. So I guess four or five open slots, I'd think at least one of Boyd or Hill would be worth of one of them

ETA: forgot about Kirk too and I assume we would take a similar WR in his spot if he goes elsewhere

We are starting to lose spots, but still find it hard to believe we will tell them no if either wanted to commit right now

I think that's about half right. I think they would take Hill over Boyd if it came down to it. Hill has taken a little bit of a mature approach towards his recruitment than Boyd has, imo. I don't think they would take either ones RIGHT NOW but during the season if Holton Hill really wanted to be an Ag I wouldn't doubt Sumlin would give him that chance if he continues to dominate and uphold his 4-star ranking. Boyd had several opportunities to pull the trigger over the spring/summer and he declined. It's kind of telling in a way. Roney Elam beat them both to it but things could always change and whatever but to turn both down cold turkey? I'm not sure I'm buying that. But stay tuned right? Same bat channel, same bat time? *grin*

You know why I love this staff? Because after obliterating a top 10 opponent on the road, most would be still drunk from last night's euphoria. What are our coaches up to? Why, first thing this morning, they were hanging out in Mesquite at Poteet HS.
