I haven't watched much ut this year, has guarantano played? If dormady is as bad as advertised what could it hurt to see what the other guy can do?

Yes he's been even worse but in JG's defense, he gets thrown into games at the worst times. Butch has really just done an awful job managing the QB situation imo
Eta- You'll probably see Guarantano get his first action of the game when Tennessee is down 17 and pinned inside their five yard line

Dormady is better than JG imo and I don't think it's even close.
Dormady hasn't been great and he isn't a fit for the offense but JG is much worse as a passer and does not want to run.
I think you'll see a good bit of wildcat this week.

Hmm that's interesting

With Kelly at QB? He seems to be the best player in offense by far, makes sense to put the ball in his hands as much as possible.
I despise our wildcat, it's practically worthless. We've run it for 9 years now and I can recall offhand 3 times we've had a big play from it. If we would pass out if it I'd be more receptive but we never do. Maybe were saving that for Florida

No I don't think Kelly can throw it.
I don't know if calling it wildcat is even accurate.
It is a limited package but it's essentially the running game they employed with Dobbs with a very limited passing game added on.
Kelly will be at RB when they go to it.

Do you mind sharing who will be at QB?

I don't think it's my place. I know Scott hinted strongly this week that they are going to it and I believe Butch did as well which is the only reason I even commented on it.
Stuff like this (special formations/personnel) is an area where I respect their privacy/secrecy.

*quickly scans roster for any skill position types that played qb in high school*

Did they comment publicly? Obviously it's good to respect certain privacies on message boards but I doubt or staff is looking at this board for Intel so I'm. Not sure what would be lost by mentioning something that coaches have hinted at publicly.
Now if butch said something in private you were privy to I'd understand bc that's protecting you more than anything else.

Thanks for the post, I understand.
What did you come up with, Ricky?

They mentioned publicly they were looking strongly at going to a wildcat but there has not been any kind of specifics or indication of who it is that I've seen from coaches or media.

Seems like a huge reach by the staff. I guess they are trying to replicate the offense with Dobbs, but unfortunately Josh isn't trotting out of that tunnel.

volfan, you are the premier VOLS football mind on this board imo. Give me your analysis for this fixture please. We are going to get destroyed right?

IF they use it some I'll just be happy they are actually recognizing that there is a problem and trying to do something to fix it
Which is something I don't think this staff (old or new) has done one single time
ETA: tbh if you asked me if I thought they'd use it my guess is they will use it ONCE or none at all which will be hilariously depressing

Just heard a UT writer say against UMASS, UT ran 12 first down plays and gained a net of 1 yard. Yikes.

UMASS had 12 TFL against VOLS
