I'm Beginning to think that VQ, 247, etc are being coached by the AD

To bring up names that will piss us off. It was clear yesterday that they were told to bring up DJ Durkin.

Could you think of a more WTF hire than Durkin? I got so mad at the mere mention of his name that I wanted to throw up.

I don't see how anyone could seriously suggest Durkin. That's the hire you make if you get a "no" from 175 coaches and coordinators between now and February.

Seriously, why would you hire Durkin? It would make as much or more sense to promote Hoke. Or to simply burn the stadium to the ground.

For the record, I'm not sure they're being coached. I'd say it's more likely that Currie is clamping down on all leaks from within the AD. I think the local media guys have no information coming in and are just grasping at straws.

The former players getting fired up on social media last night got me pumped. They could be being fed bad info, or trolling the frick out of us.

The only ones I know for sure is not trolling are Haynesworth and Swain. Haynesworth is irl emotionally invested in this football program.

I'm irl close friends with several players that played between 2000-2004. None of them said anything to me yesterday, I'm gonna reach out to them sometime today to see if I can get some nugs.

Didn't you just get access to this board?

I think you are right about this. My thing about it is though that Currie literally said "big, expensive, and explosive". What about Durking, Fleck, Norvell, Troy HC, Troy Calhoun(why does his name come up on every one of our coaching searches), Kyle Whittingham(same as Calhoun), etc. Some of these guys would definitely bring an "explosive" offense, but none of them come close to the "big" and/or "expensive" part of Currie's description. Personally, that's why I've never paid attention to them. Like someone said, these guys become serious candidates in February after at least 5 others have said no; and at that point I look to put all my TN gear on ebay for sale b/c we'll have entered a very dark time for TN football. That being said, if something falls through with Gruden, I don't think it gets past Patterson.

Corey Alexander(I don't even remember him) put a few tweets up yesterday about it. Not sure if he's one of the former players that you are talking about though.

If our options truly are Gruden or Patterson I'm elated

I am as well. It sounds like it's 1) Gruden, 2) Patterson, and 3) Mullen/Jimbo. If it gets to Patterson, it sounds like he'd take it; and I know the TCU folks are sweating it quite a bit. I've seen a few threads on one of their boards saying things like Patterson would bring his whole staff and their program would be decimated.

I doubt anything has gotten that far with Patterson at all.

Franklin/Patterson/Mullen/Frost are the fallback options if Gruden falls through, per the GOAT insider

This is why a no from Gruden will not hurt that bad.

Agreed. It will still hurt but we are selecting from a much, much better pool compared to 2012 imo.

Absolutely. I can't put into words how much I hope one of those backups needs to be selected. I will stop watching with Norvell/Fleck (not that anyone really gives a shite).
