I know they do, but that makes it sounds like Bama is intentionally getting Collins to host Louisiana players cause they know he will badmouth LSU to them. They could get Collins to host players from states other than Louisiana. But hey all is fair so whatever.

It just doesn't sound like Collins decision was all about Collins if that's the case. As others have said when he goes out of his way to badmouth LSU to Louisiana recruits he brings it on himself the reaction he gets from LSU fans.

I have no idea if he badmouths LSU or not -- I didn't even know about the Willis thing until yesterday -- but it makes sense for a local kid to host Louisiana players (or a kid from whatever state to host recruits from that state.) He would not only represent a kid from state X doing well at university Y, he would be able to talk to them in terms of stuff they know. "Hey, I see that the Manipusumpkea Fighting Ogres are in the playoffs. I loved going to Manipusumpkea. Used to eat at Krustyburger there. You ever eat there? Good stuff." Or: "I played against that quarterback Eustace Knickerbocker a couple years ago. How do y'all figure to contain him when y'all play his team?" Stuff like that not only creates a bond, it tells them they'll have someone they can talk to next season during their homesick freshman year if they choose to attend university Y.

Badmouthing LSU/home-state university, in any event, could easily backfire. You're trying to draw a recruit in, not piss him off by disparaging the university he might have grown up cheering for, or even just kinda hoping did well.

So you just outed yourself as an alter, huh?

Shocking. If you always posted like this, it's no wonder your arse was banned.

I'm not an alter but I lurked for years.
I'd be willing to prove it if possible.
What do you have to lose?
I need rental properties but I don't like mobile homes.

They could learn something from Denzel devall. He made it clear LSU was out of the picture, and (big surprise) he wasn't harassed.
If a player honestly does not know where he wants to go through all of his recruitment and eventually chooses a school other than the in-state school, that is still not deserving of a backlash.

One of the reasons he got upset with LSU is that we removed him from the group of recruits at our Spring Game after he had signed with Bama. Imagine a kid signing-not committing but having already signed with an opponent program-getting a case of the red arse at a staff who didn't want him around the next year's crop of recruits when they brought them in for the Spring Game.

Doing what Landon did and April doing what she did were exactly how NOT to handle a recruiting process. If you want a case study, there it is. Willis wasn't quite as bad but the previous history with Willis' family exacerbated the situation.

Oh, and if anyone thinks Landon helped Gerald moreso than his best friend, whose father runs the training center he worked out at in NO and has a very large, blatant connection to Muschamp/UF, well, I've got some ocean front property in Baton Rouge to sell you.

It's sad Landon has gained more notoriety for his feuding with LSU Fans and his All-American-caliber mouthpiece than his actual play on the field thusfar. I'm genuinely confident he'll have a great year this year provided he stays healthy. I wish him the best, though I hope he gets beaten on a few plays in BR this year.

Which players mentioned in this thread fit that description?

Eta: Kenny young spurned lsu late in the process, seemed to be really torn on where he wanted to go, and he didn't catch any shite.

This is well known. Willis said as much on signing day. He talked to LC, who told him to get out of Louisiana.

Of course, GWIII was inclined to do that anyways.

Are you being serious? He stated his junior year (or maybe before) that he was going out of state. HE did give LSU some late love, but he was NEVER considered an LSU lean by anyone from this state.

LC is just stirring up the LSU fans. Im sure the LSU coaching staff knew very well that both of those boys were strongly considering out of state schools and they didn't put all their eggs in one basket (although LSU did this with LF and it worked out). It seems the fans read more into it and keep the flames going instead of just saying WGAS.

1. Make offer
2. Get taken up on offer
3. Pussy out
4. I think this is where I'm supposed to put profit but it doesn't exactly fit this.
