Aggies are the IT program. However I've been looking at texas recruits and most have them both in the top two.

So my question is will UT actually compete? Aggies are way ahead for 2015.
DWag215, Projectpat, maroon flash and WestcoastAg I'm definitely interested in hearing y'all's opinion. Sorry if repeat thread, I searched and didn't find anything.

We are leading for most of the top Texas guys right now and it's a deep class this year. We need to have a decent season at least and hope Strong doesn't work a miracle in his first year and lead them to 10+ wins.

Texas has to win and A&M has to struggle for it to change at this point. If it stays even, A&M will continue to stay on top.

Strong will still get some but he's definitely playing from behind. It's not going to get easier with the New Kyle unfolding. Strong is taking a big chance with his "old school" mentality of telling kids they can't live off campus until they are Srs and taking the frills out of the facilities. If he wins all will be well but if he doesn't then it could get real bad, real fast.

A&M went 9-4 and UT went 8-5. They aren't that different right now.

And I posted a factual response to this

We've outrecruited them the past two seasons and currently lead for most of the top recruits in the state. Recruiting wise we are not alike right now

ATM has the advantage right now in regards to relationships. Texas is playing catch up right now.

The one thing that negates relationships is winning. IF Texas wins this year, it will help swing momentum back to them.

ATM needs to win 8-10 next yr and it won't really matter what UT does, unless they win 10+.

I normally don't believe winning is a huge factor, but in UT's situation and their current perception, it definitely matters.

A&M is going to dominate Texas in recruiting until Texas starts performing on the field. If Texas falters this season (even a little bit) and A&M gets 8 or 9 wins again, then 2015 is going to be another top 5 class for A&M. A&M is in very good shape for at least 15 top 250 national kids, most of whom are in Texas. This year's A&M class, which was a top 5 class, only included 11 top 250 national kids out of high school. (A&M already has a commitment from 7 top 200 guys for 2015!)

(The 7 top 200 guys we have committed for 2015 are top 200 according to 247 composite).

One more thing...Arkansas got one top 250 national high school guy last year.

The QB thing is going to hurt them, but Heard might be good. Also, Strong is a good coach, and there is a lot of talent in Austin. they might be better than people think this year. If they're not, they're in trouble. Strong simply can't afford to lose.

There's enough talent at UT to win right now with the right coach.

Texas has been the more powerful program over the last 100 years and that will continue onto the future as well. Obviously there are periods of times when one program is more pronounce than the other and that is occurring right now with Texas A&M, but Texas will regain control of the state of Texas eventually. It is what it is and history shows it.

yep. They can't afford any injuries/attrition. But if that happens, they should honestly be pretty good this year.

Their defense is going to be gutted after this season though so they can't afford another failure recruiting. And they need to win now to recruit. Lot hinges on this season for them imo.

From 1869-1950, Princeton won like 25 national titles and was the biggest power in college football for most of that time. Someone in 1950 might have said the same thing about Princeton that you just said about Texas. They would have been wrong. What history shows us more conclusively than anything else is that things change.

We're the heavy favorites to land 4 of the 5 five stars in Texas (Sheffield, Mack, Jefferson and Murray).

This could end up being our class ever and a real contender for #1 in the country. We have a pretty good shot at landing 12+ of the top 20 in Texas.

That is correct. All we know is Strong has little recruiting momentum.

Strong is going to dominate that offensive minded flash in the pan guy for A&M in recruiting and in football. What wins Championships come on A&M fans you know that saying that rings true year after year. It's only a matter of time!
