Id argue those teams (USC and ucla) usually don't both have success at the same time. Auburn bama either. Auburn was great one year with cam. After that they've jut got lucky like beating bama in the last seconds last season (which I LOVE watching the reaction replays over and over and over :) )

Either way Aggies are the IT program and they're heads and shoulders ahead right now. This season will be telling.

Didn't speedy miss a bunch of visits to aggieland? Just saying that Worked out pretty well.

Coach Watson is a better coach than recruiter so that helps ATM. I'm not sure they have a true "rainmaker" recruiter like Wilson or beatty

I agree with this. But throw Stanford in there as well. Texas and OU dominated state of Texas recruiting since 2000, leaving A&M with scraps. In Texas, Florida and California there is enough talent for TWO schools to get elite classes on a yearly basis.

It's OU who's gonna get locked out of the talent.

Texas will be back just like USC will be back and either Stanford/UCLA will struggle to bring in elite talent annually.

there was a time period in the 60s and 70s when they where both huge powers. hell they had a "game of the century" in 67 IIRC and the game has decided who goes to the rose bowl a bunch of times. and weve seen any mix of the three big time programs in florida be powers at the same time. its possible

You have a point. With the weakness of the Big 12 OU and OSU will probably be the ones on the outside looking in.

Texas isn't half the threat as TAMU. I expect harder recruiting battles from ole miss than Texas.

A&M will probably get Jefferson, Mack, Sheffield, and Murray this year. Add a ton of four star recruits to that and Texas simply has no chance to compete in recruiting

Expect Strong to go outside of the state quite a bit this next year.

ut has a great chance as long as it is not stuck on guys at the top of the recruiting rankings. which of the following guys was atop the rankings,
evans, manziel, gilbert, joeckel etc. plenty of talent in texas to be successful.

Its a brand new staff and no doubt Strong is having to make up some ground on A&M. A&M is clearly the more popular choice at the present. But Strong is making a lot of changes internally and I expect a better team in 2014 than 2013. Ash is still a question mark, but he's been cleared for full practice. No doubt, that if he plays the season, UT will be better sides of the ball.

Regardless, Strong will go where he has to find his players. His classes most likely won't be rated as highly as Mack's were, but he'll get a lot more out of them. The culture change is the biggest adjustment going on right now. Some will cut it and others won't. Those who do will be ready to play. There won't be anybody repeating the same mistake as Claiborne did, simply because they will be afraid to pay the price. Of course, there are always addicts who will take any risk, but they can't stay if that's the case.

If that scares off some recruits, so be it. I bet it won't scare their parents.

We said stuff like this all the time under Sherman

"His rating doesn't tell the real story!"

"We want guys who want to be Aggies!"

"How is this a guy a 3 star with offers from UTEP and Kansas? Have you seen his film!"

It's what second tier programs who can't get top players say

I'll admit, the title of Coach February has passed from Mack to Sumlin. Let's see if his production of hardware is similar. But comparing Sherman to Strong? Really?

I'm not necessarily comparing the two as coaches, just saying we said similar stuff about his recruiting.

I know Strong is undefeated in big 12 play right now, but maybe hold off on having such a condescending attitude about it until one of his teams takes the field. Right now it sounds a little like undeserved chest puffing. You know, like aggy does all the time.

Luke Joeckel and Jake Matthews were the #5 and #7 offensive tackles in the 2010 class respectively. The only other player in the top 10 of that list that was drafted was Seantrel Henderson.
