You sure do care about LSU a lot.

I was born in Baton Rouge, and went back there as an adult and worked for a few years. I have two cousins that graduated from LSU and knew Tommy Casanova and several other players. My parents knew George Rice. (He was an old timer that played for LSU) I gre up a LSU fan.....so yes. I still care about LSU and like LSU.

o reply to the Dawg fan claiming LSU fans are clamoring a 4-3 defense some places and a 3-4 in others is unfortunately correct.

We landed a couple of stud LB's advertising a 3-4 and seem to be going after kids that want to play in a 4-3 as well.

Don't misunderstand what I am saying. I have noticed this. I think most, if not all programs do that to an extent. I am just surprised at the number of LSU fans calling people stupid for not putting LSU as in the top 2. I DO think LSU is in the mix. (You'd have to be ill-informed to count LSU out of any recruiting battle.) I just think the top 2 at this point is Michigan and Auburn.

quote:

Truth be told absolutely none of them know what we will be running because the coach doesn't absolutely know yet until all the recruits have landed so he can make an informed decision based on the talent we have until then.

Absolutely. A good coach tailors the defense...and offense around the talen he has.

Malzahn does this well with his offense, and Richt has done the same with HIS offense. I think Miles is going to a run heavy offense too, because of the QB situation. Now, if the QB's at all schools prove to be good, you will see a more even mix of run/pass.

The same can be said about defense. If a team has several strong classes of DE/DT you'll see them go to a heavier mix of 4-3. A LOT of strong LB's and the 3-4 becomes more prominent.

quote:

Until then, we will just go for the best players, and it's not a stretch to tell them we will be running the one that they covet, for if they come it just might make it happen

Assuming you are a coach (Your username) you understand what I am talking about. You play to your strengths and your roster as much as you can.

LSU will run multiple fronts based on the 3-4

Where are you getting this from? All indications from fall practice so far have been a 4-3 base defense. There will be times we might try a 3-4 but im not even sure we have the depth at linebacker for that to be possible.

I know this is pointed at an Alabama fan, but your own fans are sayign this on the regular board. Much of the information fans on this board get is from the fans of the teams. You can't blame an Alabama fan for saying this when chances are, he is getting it from LSU fans.

The long and short of it is no one, other than the people inside the program, know what LSU's D is going to look like, but a 3-4 base is not likely.

LINK

"Less than a month before the season opener, and two days into preseason camp, Steele’s defensive plans for the Tigers aren’t all that clear. Assistant coaches aren’t often allowed to speak to reporters, and players are guarded about giving away too much."

"From discussions with players, Steele is in the midst of implementing a fairly similar and somewhat simpler scheme than that of former defensive coordinator John Chavis.

Steele’s scheme appears to be more multiple — with a variety of formations — and includes new terminology with positions like “Money.” It seems to be more linebacker-centric, too."

"OK, but is it safe to call LSU’s base defense a 4-3 still? Well, yes, linebacker Duke Riley said, but he mentions another formation when discussing the unit’s base D: 4-2-5."

"One twist: “In some defenses we’ll have a 3-4. Four linebackers,” Riley said."

Can't blame coaches for playing it close to the vest. Why give other teams more time to prepare?

Meh. Ole Miss could finish 7-5. They are the easiest team to negative recruit against. IF he wants to go to that dumpster fire then let him.

I don't think you know what that means. Shouldn't you be busy making weird comments about your nephew's package? What're you doing on the recruiting board?

They way the season is ending for you guys is nothing but a dumpster fire. If you guys lose out and lose the bowl game that will be 4 straight losses. What would you call it?

What are the odds of that happening? Lets be realistic.
