They also hold the Tuesday 11am presser in that area. I don't believe they've ever used it for actual practice....no hijack carry on

It's almost like he thought "I have to sign with multiple teams, and make a choice later." Like he had a backup plan incase he didn't qualify.

I'm surprised they didn't have one sooner with their weather. I think weather may have had an influence on ours as well. Although, we don't get the same level of lightning, unlike in most places where JUL/AUG is dry - those months are often our rainiest (July is our rainiest month except for March) and the rains that come around fall camp and early in the season are often torrential. One practice on a field after those rains or during them (probably why we have multiple outdoor fields as well) and the field will be absolutely shredded.
Hell, one of the reasons we've had trouble with Neyland the past few years is because we have gotten a damn a downpour the day of the first home game several years running and playing on it tears the field up and makes it harder to manage the rest of the year.

I think that's exactly what he thought. He just didn't realize you're not allowed to do that.

For all the bitching Georgians do about the constantly fluctuating temps around this northern part of the state, the weather really is prime for football. Enough rain to cancel a practice is a fluke thing and any rain at all usually just means they move down to the artificial fields where the drainage is better.

A lot times we play through it and do 'wet' work but only because we have extra grass and turf fields but sometimes we will have a week straight of rain and the ground is just too saturated to play on a grass field unless you want to turn it into a mud pit.

I think it was more than that. One of our mods talked to him and he said something to the effect that he had s hard time telling someone no and he was young and immature enough to think it would just work itself out without him getting involved.

Same (two grass, two turf). Curious to see what happens with the IPF as it will mean either adding a 5th practice field elsewhere on campus (which means it will be a full 120 yards) or sacrificing one of our four current fields (which means it will likely be closer to 80 or 90 yards due to area constraints).

I dunno, especially if it was a HS coach who had dealt with recruiting before but really even one that hadn't should've done more homework making sure the kid knew the rules. A lot can go wrong and you can accidentally disqualify yourself if you don't know the NCAA rules as they apply to student-athletes and HS coaches are supposed to act like guidance counselors for students going through that process. It really does go back to him and the AD if the HS has one.

On the crazy recruiting topic... What about that poor kid who basically got tricked into committing to Florida this cycle? He held a big public ceremony at the HS and announced his commitment, only to find out later someone had impersonated a position coach at Florida.
Anyone know what his name was or whatever happened to him? Whoever did that to the kid was one sick bastard -- that was Carrie level evil HS prank. I hope he (the kid) landed somewhere.

Anyone remember Floyd Raven? His mom sent Ole Miss a fake LOI where she forged his name. Don't worry though, OM didn't miss out on much. He was a great athlete, but never learned A&M's system well enough to start.
