Funny that he committed after Bobo left and grades were always an issue. Funny how that worked

You can edit or delete. Or, you can stay in denial. Maybe you should call a time out. You make the call. Enjoy.

BJ Emmons is a stud. He tried to commit to UGA a few months back but had a recent pot arrest. He's in a holding pattern to see how his behavior/grades are to see if UGA will take him.

Crow posted that in our recruiting thread back in feburary when I asked about the running backs we were looking at. That's a full two months after he "commited" to us, and we didn't even consider him a commit at that time. Also you can see the concern about his grades back then.

But we just made all this stuff of recently bc it looked like he was going to Bama..

Why would I edit my info? You're choosing to use ESPN to prove your point which is pretty much shite when it comes to recruiting. 247, which is considered the gold standard on this board says he committed in February.

We can. Most UGA fans aren't butthurt over him decommitting and choosing Bama. I'd wager everyone on here is happy for him where ever he goes.

Like that dude said earlier. He won't make or break either team. I'd love to have him, but we got the number one back last year and have the number one back next year committed. Yall have Chubb and will probably get Holyfield. We all good.

according to you:

quote:

UGA tried to contact him in February when your new RB coach was hired but his coach felt UGA might have been going in a different direction.

Soooooo, he felt this way in February and waited until May to decommit?? Is he that dumb? Oh, I guess he is, forgot about the grades.

Also,

quote:

UGA staff was in contact with his coach and tried to talk with him to no avail

We called to see if he wanted to come to a camp. That is all. We didn't try to meet with him personally.

quote:

Grades were no more an issue than most kids and his spring showed no concerns for qualifying

Actually, his grades were/are a major concern. Rumor is they might have gotten better, but no one knows for sure. Also, Bama might be doing a sign and place. No one knows...certainly not you

Bama doesn't sign and place anymore. Few teams do since the SEC passed signing limits. It's just not practical anymore. That isn't to say that we haven't occasionally signed a prospect we knew was at risk of not qualifying and that player eventually failed to qualify (Brandon Hill) but that's different from signing someone you know won't qualify. Bama won't sign Emmons unless he has a clear path to qualifying. Too many other good prospects out there to waste an NLI.

We've taken commitments from players in the past with the understanding that they have to make a certain amount of academic progress by NSD or they won't be signing. That may be the case with Emmons.

Didn't this just happen with your 2014 class? Alabama had like 3-4 that didn't qualify academically....including a RB! I'm pretty sure everyone was saying he wouldn't qualify the same as with BE

In the last 5 years Bama has had 4 signees who failed to qualify:

2012: Brandon Hill who just missed qualifying but was able to enroll at Bama after a semester at prep school

2014: Montel McBride

2014: Bo Scarbrough. Yes, he is like Emmons in that he is a RB and was known to be at risk of not qualifying. He failed to qualify initially but, Alabama appealed and he joined the team in December for bowl practice.

2015: Desherrius Flowers, no talk of grade concerns as a recruit. Enrolled early at Bama but Bama found and reported something to do with his initial eligibility after he finished this spring semester at Bama

In the last 5 years Bama has had 2 signees go to juco (McBride and Flowers); one of which was completely unexpected

So Alabama has had 3 in the last 2 years and one was being talked about heavily not qualifying just like Emmons. Now, I'm not sure if he's going to qualify or not, neither is anyone in this thread, but everyone agree it's a massive concern and the time line for the guy "who knows the coach," was way off and the only factual pieces of his posts has been public knowledge released by the AJC

Thanks, typo fixed.

And Bama is still recruiting other RB's, and recently had a player walk-on. And it did work out for Scarbrough.

It may well be a concern but none of us knows how big of a concern. All I'm saying is Bama won't sign him if he has no chance of qualifying
