Quinn is also great friends with Washington, DeSean Smith, and Melvin Jones. All are tigers.

Doesn't matter! A&M had a good white WR, therefor Quinn is an aggie

What's the deal with Tony Brown reportedly not going to A&M's Jr day?

Not at all

Nothing is done until they sign a LOI

I have no problem with you getting your hopes up, just don't hold your breath.

you guys cocked up taking so many RBs this year. Your backfield is going to have probably 5-6 underclassmen. LSU has been selling out on Fournette this year and has been heavily recruiting him since he was a freshman in highschool. Willis isn't going to Bama. You aren't even on his list. aTm has a small chance, but the real player against LSU is Florida. Can't speak on Noil, but obviously he will have a hard time saying no to Wilson.

Depth chart will be a selling point for LSU in trying to get LF but who knows if it's something he worries about. If we can convince Kamara (not a done deal yet) to sign despite having 3 other stud RBs committed in the '13 class, then I think that shows we're pretty adept at countering the depth chart pitch. Also, if Lacy goes first round, we'll be able to strengthen our "come to Bama, share carries, and be the 1st RB drafted" pitch.

All that said, I do give LSU the edge in signing LF, but I don't see how anyone can say he's a lock at this point.

I won't say he's a lock, but you'll probably start hearing about A&M being our biggest competitor for Fournette after their Jr. day this weekend, Bama is about to slide back to the pack.

Always hard to get LA kids out of LA, but it isn't impossible. Quinn has quite a bit of interest in A&M, and Willis and company aren't coming all that way for no reason at all.

RC had success in LA, as did Sherman to an extent. Besides, if we keep you busy defending your borders, you spend less time in Texas.

Where is Brown's sister going to go? That will determine if A&M has a shot at him. BTW, Paris is going to A&M's Jr day this weekend - a few months ago we had no shot at all with him.

Sherman got nothing but scraps. The only two players we went head to head with Sherman over were Jarrett Fobbs and Jerald Hawkins. LSU won both times. Any player from Louisiana on A&M's roster did not have an LSU offer.

The one exception in the last 10 years was Matt Allen, who transferred because he wanted to be closer to home (from Klein).

yeah, there are just a lot. From 247's top 247.

CB
Brown
Watkins
Harvey (A&M)
Collins (A&M)
Springs

S
Paris
Adams
Hall
Freeman
Sumner-Gardner (Clemson but word is we think we have a good shot to flip him this weekend)
Bonney
Simmons
Thomas (Northwestern)

Plus LA
-----
Jones

That's just an insane amount of talent and it doesn't even get to some really good players that in most years would be takes. Meanwhile there are only 5 total LBs from Texas (and only 1 from LA) on that same list.

from a La. standpoint, it is very telling that neither Brown nor Quinn is coming. those were the two guys (from la. and texas) that LSU fans thought aggies had the best chance at. always thought LSU would land both but a little surprised that neither headed to aggie jr. day.

we lead. long way till 2014 NSD.

I hope he'll commit early to A&M--my SO went to Lakeview and she's excited about the prospects (since Lakeview is one of the worst programs in the area but somehow gave the NFL Derrick Dockery).

Honestly I've never heard his name brought up around our recruiting. My guess is he has no interest whatsoever.

I'm honestly not sure who our plan B is if we don't get Whitley. I think there are a couple of lesser guys in Texas but my guess is it's a spot we might look national on. There just isn't much local LB talent this year. But a couple of the pay sites seem to feel we may get Whitley this weekend and if so I bet we're done at LB unless a truly ridiculous national talent has interest.

We have more than one junior day, brah.

Quinn will most definitely be on campus sometime between now and the summer. Kid loves TAMU.

Quinn doesn't love TAM. He loves the TAM offense. Huge difference. The kid loves LSU and will openly admit it. His family has been going to LSU games his entire life. He's making a business decision and that is what gives TAM a marginal chance. If this recruitment were based purely on love for a school, LSU would already have him locked up(do anyway).

As for the trip being a long one on your own dime, many of these kids and their families group together and ride and/or are reimbursed for the trip. One of the illegal but understood practices that the NCAA just looks passt unless they can use it later to nail you for something else as in the Tennessee/USC assistant and his dealings with Lache Seastrunk. That was only brought out because of the stinch of that recruitment, Willie Lyle's being the hot name and the NCAA's complete disgust with anything that went on during the Kiffin era at Tennessee. Otherwise we would have never heard about the money and tickets Seastrunk got to travel to Tennessee
