That article is from May. Mariotta hasn't even signed yet.

It is very likely that Newton greatly developed his game in JUCO. Auburn wouldn't have had a public bidding war with Mississippi State had he not clearly grown to be a top-tier player. Moreover, that's why many top JUCO players are considered very valuable recruits.

I guess you didn't watch him in the Clemson game. He progressed rapidly throughout the year. My impatient arse was ready to bench him that game.

Jesus Christ... Cam was nowhere near a finished product in JUCO. Watch the MSU and Clemson games then watch our last few games and you can clearly see how much he developed at Auburn.
Also, not a single person thought he was a polished product before that season. Revisionist history at its finest

It is very likely that Newton greatly developed his game in JUCO.
When he came out of Junior College, he was compared to Brent Shaeffer. He was said to be inaccurate and not be able to hit water if he fell out of a boat with a football. Auburn fans were told he would not run on SEC defenses. He was pumped up to be a future tight end or running back playing quarterback. Not only that, Auburn fans were told that Gus Malzahn's gimmick offense was figured out and that Cam Newton would struggle running it because he wasn't smart enough.
Need I continue?

I lived near Auburn at that time and was very aware of how good he was. You should stop taking what message board trolls say as actual consensus, and stop victimizing yourself while youre at it.

So you think it's retarded to be able to cut through the garbage talk and not take everything on this site seriously? I see.

Well to be fair, I never weighed in on Cam Newton one way or the other. I was more invested in scat backs.
That said, all that is well and good, but in the end Gus's offense did little to prepare him for the next level. Again as I posted before, the college game is about winning then and now, so Gus's offense does just that. When it comes to understanding and developing the fundamentals of the game it's not even remotely close to what is learned by QB's that are under center or in a pro-style offense.
Fair enough?

Probably wanted to tell Gus in person he was staying home for college.

I couldn't read the entire story without a subscription, but the Auburn 247 site has a picture of Narcise with a quote saying the Auburn offense is best for me. Of course one reason I don't get a subscription is because the information put out by Auburn sites often isn't reliable enough to pay for.

I'm sure the food was good.

I don't think he was ever expected to stay in Auburn long. My understanding is he is also going to visit bama before making his decision on Monday
