Interesting. Any idea who? I've been operating under the assumption that Lashley was all but a done deal to State.

Ole Miss needs another tackle badly and projected Allen as a guard.

I suspect Newman will flip.

I'm pretty happy with our current offensive line commits. It won't be the end of the world if we don't get Newman. But you can never have too many offensive linemen

Then he drops on Rivals from a 4* to a 3* right after his commit to LSU

I don't buy into the notion of significant bias at rivals, but dang that's a terrible time to drop a recruit if you're trying to maintain your legitimacy.

This. Hopefully Harbaugh doesn't try to show up and cook cupcakes with him or something. Nice get, Tigers.

Interested to see how his career plays out. For some reason I get a Greg Oden vibe from this kid. Hope that's not the case though.

It is only because he looks 40 years old like Oden did at 18-19. I hope at least...

247, scout, and Rivals all dropped Allen's stock - why is Rivals getting shite on so bad ITT?

I see the drop was more dramatic on Rivals but the struggles at the UA practices were well documented.

ESPN DGAF tho

but plays without much aggression

He's a project no doubt, but only because his pass blocking could be better. Kid plays with plenty of aggression from what I've seen.

Little, Mathews, DeFoor, and Newman. We are good at OT this year. We would have loved him a couple of years ago. He is Damien Robinson all over again. Ask State how that turned out.

ESPN dropped him too. He was #4 previously. As in #4 overall recruit in country.

What he showed on film against inferior talent was all great.......but when your 8 inches taller and 75 pounds heavier than the guy across from you, you look like a beast........

I'm going by a report that my coaching buddy told me from his time at an Alabama camp, where he got his tail handed to him by anyone who had D1 playing ability. Exact words were, "He doesn't bend well at all, and looks soft". He's coached lineman in HS, arena ball and even a short stint with an NFL team so I'll take his word for it.

I'm not knocking the kid, but as was pointed out above, he dropped across most all services for some reason.

Look I think we all know he is a project but his upside is enough to take the risk with. I remember when people said Greg Robinson and Cam Robinson were soft as well. Now I am in no means saying he will turn out like those two.

"Looks" like a football player.........but plays without much aggression that you would expect from someone his size. Good pickup for LSU, but wouldn't expect anything from him 1st couple of years minimum.

Sounds about right

He's a project for sure

Why's a project a 4*?

There's the issue w/ recruiting services. Selling this guy as a 4star when everyone else says he's a project.

2*'s and low-end 3*'s are projects. 4*'s are supposed to be ready to go and those that will make an early impact and see the field quickly.

This #1 LSU class is over-hyped and a bias is given to over-rank Louisiana talent. Doing Less with Les sure looks like will continue.

I think he'll be a guard at LSU as well. That's why we're still offering a crap load of tackles right now and trying to get every tackle we can in for a visit.
