Louisiana linebacker De’jon Harris, who attended Arkansas’ Red-White spring game, has committed to Arkansas.
Harris, 6-1, 230, 4.70 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Marrero John Ehret High School picked the Hogs over scholarship offers from Oregon, Memphis Southern Miss, Tulane and others. Video highlights CLICK HERE
He recorded 82 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 3 forced fumbles, 2 recovered fumbles and 5 pass breakups this past season. Receivers coach Michael Smith is his lead recruiter.

Ehret 2016 linebacker De'Jon Harris opted to end his recruitment Thursday night when he announced he was committing to Arkansas.

The 6-foot-1, 230-pound Harris also had offers from Oregon, Arizona State, Tulane, Troy, Louisiana-Monroe, Memphis and Louisiana Tech.

"When I went up there to the spring game, the coaching staff showed they were really interested in me," Harris said. "The coaches really wanted me. When they came down for our spring game, they talked to me individually. I talked to my mom and when I was up there, I actually wanted to commit.

"But I took some time to think about it, a couple of weeks to think about it, to make sure I was going to make the right decision. I told Coach Lam 'I need to stop playing games and go ahead and do it.' That's how I feel"

Harris, who is considered a three-star prospect by Rivals and 247Sports, was an All-District 8-5A selection last season after finishing with 82 tackles, including 15 tackles for a loss, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and three passes defended.

He added he is also going to recruit his Ehret teammates Michael Divinity and Caron Baham to join him at Arkansas.

For now, the focus can shift back to leading Ehret on the field.

"It feels real good to get this off my shoulders," Harris said. "Now, I have the whole summer to think about and talk to my seniors because we're trying to go to the Dome. Now I can focus on that and my season."

offers from Oregon

Does Oregon have a former Tigah on staff or something? They seem to be hitting the trail in Louisiana pretty hard lately.

Do you know anything about his teammate Caron Baham? I just read in an article from NOLA that we've offered him too. 247 has him ranked as the #42 player in LA. I just hadn't heard of him before tonight so I was curious.

I don't know anything about Baham specifically, but it's the NOLA Westbank. It's always teeming with prospects. In past years, when Jabbar Juluke was still at Karr, these kids probably would have played there. But since he's at Louisiana Tech now, and the guy that took over at Karr didn't keep up the recruiting, the talent is more dispersed on the Westbank.

Notable Best Bankers include Reggie Wayne, Chris Henry, Speedy Noil, Kordell Stewart, and a whole bunch of guys that played positions other than WR that I just can't think of.

God, it's nice to see a coaching staff at Arkansas go after Louisiana so hard. So many great athletes...

If Arky want the skilled position players then La. is a place to get that from. LSU can't get them all. And congrats on getting Cole Kelly, I think he will strive in that system up there.

Yes this school is 10 mins from my house. Good player but needs to show out this season to prove he is an SEC caliber player. Plays good in shorts.
