It's not debatable that Cam Akers is the best 2017 kid in Mississippi. He's been starting and putting up numbers and making big plays since he was a Freshman at 6A Clinton.

Bowie is a very good player with tons of upside but watch Cam Akers hudl and I'll let you be the judge.

I agree Akers is good. I've not said who the best player in MS is for 2017. Just that I'm glad to have Bowie.

We'll see what happens. For all any of us know, you could be right... or wrong.

But ROFL @ Ole Miss or MSU fans jutting their jaw out here. Imagine a fan of another conference browsing this board, reading this thread, and doing a double take. Borderline arrogance from fans of one of the Mississippi schools? They would have to believe they entered the twilight zone.

It's not arrogance it's reality. Most Mississippi kids prefer to stay in state. Look at Leo Lewis last year Benito Jones this year and don't be surprised to see Raekwan Davis to flip this summer as well.

Go back how ever many years you like. Tally up the top talent from the state of Mississippi and tally up how many left. The results will obviously be surprising to you.

And I'm sure your scouting report will change if/when he flips to whatever Landmass school you support.

Which will most likely be Ole Miss, which also warrants close monitoring of his opinion when the flip is made.

Benito is staying with OM. BOWIE will also arse o end up at OM. Simmons s not going to Bama. These ate not speculation. You can Argue if you want. But this is all fact.

Uhhhh nope, it is what it is. Kid is a project. Who knows maybe he'll end up being the next Calvin Johnson. However right now he isn't on par with the likes of Brown, Duncan or Metcalf who all have the speed, run refined routes, play against vastly superior competition and actually are very physical.

I agree that Akers is a beast. I graduated from Clinton so I've seen him play multiple times.

However, members of this board didn't rank Bowie #1 in state. The recruiting services did. If you have a problem with it why don't you contact them and whine about it there?

I don't see him as making an immediate impact at WR but could see home due to size & speed making an impact as a safety if and only if he has a mean streak and can come up and shut down the run. Plus on film he has good instincts and can anticipate & pick off passes.

I wouldn't rank Bowie or Duncan in the same category with Brown or Metcalf. They are elite.

I think Bowie is a tremendous athlete, whatever position he ends up playing in college.

I don't think he's number 1 in the state, but he's definitely top 5. The 3A thing is hit or miss though because there have been several top tier prospects come out of places recently that don't face great competition every week.

Who ranked him as #1? If they did, it is going off strictly combines or camps because that game film is not that impressive when you factor in the competition. And as a Clinton graduate you should know about the difference in competition (ie. Going up against the likes of Brandon, Meridian, MC, Starkville, SP etc....is a tougher test than what he is facing). Plus I need to know what service it was so I can pay little attention to their rankings going forward.

You are correct but for every Prewitt there are half a dozen guys that end up going from studs at small schools to role players in the SEC. A great example are the Moore Twins. They were all world at Bassfied (which is a much better overall program even though they are 2A) and had much better measurables on the combine circuit. They will likely end up being role players

24/7 has him #1 and composite has him as #2, so pretty much everyone.

Again, I know we are talking recruiting services here but they don't agree with you on these two either.

Metcalf is the #65 player overall in this class with a ranking of 96.

Brown is the #143 prospect overall with a ranking of 93.

Bowie is the #56 player overall in his class with a ranking of 97.
