He didn't get the offer just because of his dad. Kid's a stud

95% of the offer came because of his dad.

I wouldn't say he is a stud but he sure isnt a scrub.

Anyways, he'll be a good one a couple years in the program.

If you think LSU would have offered him if his dad wasnt Tommy Moffit you are crazy.

The kid is good but not top tier SEC good. Has no position IMO in the 3-4. Hes a 4-3 DE and that would be great but we dont run the 4-3 anymore.

He could have been the fullback but they gave that scholly to the Tory Carter kid from GA.

Glad he got to play for LSU but Im just not sure how hes not just a preferred walk on like the rest of the coaches kids who get on the team.

Moffitt is like 6'4 250ish and will definitely be a 3-4 DE. His dad can easily add 20-30 pounds on him in a good way.

They said he's either going to play DE, TE or center. They aren't sure yet but I'm sure he wants to play DE

I have an honest question for the LSU fans with zero intent on flaming/trolling.

It appears Miles is taking commitments from a lot of lower ranked kids early in the cycle with a lot of talent left on the board. I even see a commitment watch thread on your recruiting board for another 3-star. That would be 6 3-stars out of 12 commits.

Does this concern you?

If I have time to do some reading and see if someone is about to commitment and LSU is in the running I'll make a thread.

Too be honest we do this every year.

We have five 3 Star kids according to 247

Myles Brennan and Clyde Edwards-Helaire are most likely going to be bumped to 4 stars after summer.

Which leaves us with a coaches kid, a fullback, and an athlete.

There is no such thing as a true 4 star fullback no matter how you try to spin in so there is a place for a 3 star. Moffits kid, Im not sure where he fits but sometimes you have to take a staff members kid. Especially Tommy Moffit.

Tomorrow we will get a 3 Star OG Saahdiq Charles from Miss. but with OL sometimes stars dont mean much. I could see him get a bump as well. He had some great camps this summer.

All in all I still think LSU will finish strong and get the players in wants for another Top 5 class.

Most of these kids will get a 4th star. LSU will have a strong Class.

I'm not knocking that buddy. We do the same on BOL when a commitment is imminent. I'm asking more about the number of lower ranked guys being able to commit this early.

It's all about who you're targeting. We want 4 OL, possibly 5. We have OG Ingram (Had Alabama offer) and OT Deculus (Had offers from everyone) already, strong 4-stars, Deculus Top 100 in country.

Charles is someone Grimes identified after only playing 1 season on the OL before he even started tearing up camp circuits recently. We've put the full court press on him and he wants to come back home (he's a Katrina kid). We many times will put the priority on guys like that. Ca never have enough quality OL. Adrian Ealy (in-state 4-star) and Alex Leatherwood are the remaining major targets on the OL.

The fullback was never going to be ranked highly, they just never are but are still vital to the offense. Do I think Miles overdoes it there? Absolutely, we dont need 4 scholarship FBs on the team at once (but go check out Tory Carter's film and tell me he wont be a road grader)...same goes for our TE target, Horry. The guy is clearly just going to be an extra offensive lineman like Miles like his TEs to be.

Moffitt is a coach's son. Would they get an LSU offer otherwise? Eh, probably not. But this is our strength and conditioning coach's son, so you know the kid could explode since he was brought up under a long time S&C coach.

We are in on a number of highly ranked guys, the coaches just take who they are targeting, and these were guys we have been targeting so they are more than willing to accept their commitments now. Bryan Jones is a 4-star DE without an offer from our state, Brad Stewart a 4-star CB without an offer as well from our state. They target who they think fits best here.

I have an honest answer for you, LSU turns three stars into NFL talent. No matter how you feel about LSU they do get players ready for the NFL, but it never translates to the College field it seems like!

The lineman Charles who will commit tmrw will be bumped once the sites get more film on him that's the issue with him.

oh no we are taking three stars!!

These guys are jumping on board right now cause let me tell you....we are in on many four/five star guys that will commit but want to enjoy the process. They know they need to get their spot while they still can. The best is yet to come Bammer...hello Wilson and Moses

I've seen Moffitt play 3 teams, twice in the playoffs, and each time I thought he was easily the best player on the field. So I'm guessing guys saying he wouldn't normally get an offer haven't seen him play. He was by far the best player at the championship

That's my only concern. You don't think he's already got him on LSU's weight program? You don't think what you see is what you get? Not being sarcastic, honest question.
