He was a top 5 QB going into last year because analysts make mistakes. You are right, He wasnt a top 5 QB at the end of the year because he did dumb shite though. Throwing into triple coverage even against an all white lack of talent football team in Kentucky is pretty dumb shite. That is how he earned is plummet in rankings and finished the year with more INT than TDs and one of the farthest fall in rankings in recruiting history.
With all that said, even if he wasn't a low rated driest QB prospect, it is a horrible Idea to start any Frshman QB in the SEC. Even future first round pick and boss Matt Stafford got gang raped his freshman year

His team was pitiful as well which didn't help. He is a project for sure at QB but the kid is a great athlete.

If Pike sees the field that means that Mosely transferred and Frazier got hurt. We will be in trouble well before Pike sees the field, so if he plays next year, it will probably be good for experience for '13.
And in my opinion, a true freshman can be a great first year quarterback anywhere but he can't carry the team in the SEC. Look at Mustain at Arkansas a few years ago. He had the perfect storm of arguably the best running back duo behind him taking handoffs and a pretty solid line in front of him. He just needed to take care of the ball and not shite the bed.
