Not really, the vast majority of P5 recruits come from Metro Atl.Dekalb/Gwinett is obviously ground
zero but Cobb,N Fulton and S Metro are all putting out quality players.

South and Middle Ga produce some quality kids but both areas lost population or flat lined when it has
come to growth.Thomasville and Valdosta are no where near the powers they used to be (yea I know you were referring to the areas).

Of the 280+ D1 signees in the state I would estimate 180 to 200 come from the metro counties.

For a tiny area, Belle Glade and Pahokee have put out tons of D1 talent over the last 40 years.

Fred Taylor
Ricky Jackson
Brad Banks
Santonio Holmes
Louis Oliver

Just to name a few. Could literally list dozens and the combined population of the two towns is less than 25K. Incredible.

This. Here's an awesome interactive map using Tableau (can be modified for other states as well) to show where recruits came from in the last decade or so.

Pretty clearly shows that outside of the Metro Atlanta area, the rest of the state is not producing "pockets" of talent, though it's a bit unfair to compare given the population density and the sheer volume of schools there.

1. STL Metro
2. KC Metro

Mid Mo will sprinkle in a few players every year as well.

I hate the place but NE Louisiana has to be up there. Monroe might have 50k people but seemingly produces five star studs every year.

It's really up in the air for Arkansas, but I'll say that Central Arkansas is #1, as it always has been. It's certainly produced the most SEC players this year.

After that, I'd probably go with Pine Bluff, but you have good players all across the Southern part of the state, and the SW portion is really picking up.

NWA players receive more attention, but don't produce on the field. Even if they did, NWA still wouldn't produce as many players as some think they do. Money is strong, but it doesn't trump demographics.

Scotland and Havelock produce some serious talent in NC, as well.

For SC, it's Rock Hill, followed by Gaffney and Spartanburg.

For D1 players I'm gonna say the pinebelt region, but you could argue Jackson, Coast, GTR on a given year. The delta and southwest MS also produce really well on given years. It's pretty dispersed in MS. Jackson should be the juggernaut but it's the most messed up place in the country, besides the south side of Chicago.

Virginia's tidewater region has been one of the best at producing talent.

The Upstate of SC is really where the talent is... stretching from Rock Hill/Charlotte metro area across the state, through Spartanburg, Greenville and to the Georgia border. That area is talent rich (especially for skill players) and everybody recruits it...

Come to the Lowcountry (everywhere east of Columbia) if you want lineman.
