Friend did the same. To a point, size is not that important. Boise State handled our D-Line in 2011 with an O-Line that averaged something like 260. That wouldn't cut it in the SEC week in and week out but it was good enough for the two or three big teams they played every year.

I think you need guys to be mobile enough to get to the linebackers...LBs are getting so fast that the 330-340 pound guys can really have trouble (especially if you try to incorporate zone blocking schemes). To your point...if you are going to consistently use these smaller guys, you will probably need more depth at the OL, too.

defense: can a coaching change take AU defense from a liability to a solid unit?
