11-0, had loss reversed from kU who used an ineligible player vs Colorado and Missouri AFTER being told by the Big 8 not to play him. By them similar to 1964 Arkansas the AP Polls were voted before bowl games. A 2 loss Minnesota got the AP vote.

Washington actually started claiming it a few years ago.

2008 Florida

Stacked Both Offensively and Defensively and unlike a lot of the other options on here put up the stats on both sides of the ball to back it up.
A coaching staff led by a on the edge of burning out but still pushing Meyer, with Dan Mullen as the OC and Charlie Strong as the DC, unquestionably the best SEC team of the modern era.

Finally, post-Ole Miss, inarguably the most dominant Modern SEC Team- no game within single digits, no game with healthy Harvin within 3 TDs, held most prolific Offense in NCAA history to 14 points.

The number 2 team in the AP before the bowl games (Ole Miss) was undefeated and beat a top 5 Rice team in the Sugar Bowl. But according to some fanbases, we don't have a claim to that title.

Mostly. LSU acts like they care but really don't. They say it doesn't count just to troll us.

Only allowed 28 points all year - one defensive TD and 3 TDs in garbage time.

Yeah, otherwise we'd have 7 shutouts instead of 6.

Henry I think you have a better claim at 10-0-1 then Minnesota with 2 losses, Mizzou though was #1 ranked & lost last game to a flat out cheating team, went on to beat #4 Navy in the Orange Bow;. To make the Mizzou case stronger Washington's 1 lose on the season was to Navy.

Coming from an auburn fan... Explain how? How is losing to an unranked team better than the number 1 team in ot? Then we went on to win 21-0, so who was really the best team. Your point is dumb

It is the reality that they try to find the best or most deserving. It isn't definitive and people often voted either way depending on the wind. I believe a team who did not win its conference should have been penalized in the eyes of the voters. Nothing said they had to, so they didn't but I believed it was the right way to vote.

ESPN saw the dollar signs and as they always did followed the money. It worked out for Bama. Congrats. You earned it in the rematch, but you would have a different opinion had you not benefited.
