The LSU Administration did this to basketball themselves.

Brady came in and tried to clean up the mess left behind after Dale Brown, and he did a pretty decent job. The problem is that he was unlikable, so when they were losing, no one backed him.

So LSU fired him knowing that a talented senior class was graduating the next year, and they hire Trent Johnson. At the time, it seemed like an okay hire. The man succeeded at Stanford, but very quickly we found out how terrible of a fit he was. He wasn't a good recruiter, he was terrible at generating hype, and he seemingly rubbed the local HS coaches the wrong way.

Johnson takes the 2009 team and wins the very weak SEC, and unfortunately gets an 8-seed. They run into the buzz-saw that was UNC and a good season just vanishes.

He sucks after that season and really struggles to recruit. He "resigns" and takes the TCU job, and LSU fans get excited. Maybe we can get an exciting hire....

Instead we get Johnny Jones, a guy who went 91-89 in the Sun Belt. Yay.

But hey, he manages to get a future NBA star in Simmons, and that brings publicity and excitement to the program. All that did was make the failure of last season that much worse. So yeah, the LSU basketball is dead and I don't blame anyone for not following this dumpster of a program until the AD finally shows they want to invest in it.

my opinion? my opinion is: even the basketball players can't wait til baseball season.
