1960 Orange Bowl when we defeated #4 Navy and claimed our rightful place as 1960 national champions with a perfect 11-0 record.

The 2006 Cotton Bowl vs. TTU was my favorite. I was stationed in San Antonio at the time and my wife decided to surprise me with those tickets. So we drove up to Dallas and I thought that she was going to the game with me. But my dad had flown in after having back surgery just a couple of weeks before, which made the surprise better. It was a really ugly game with nearly zero offense. Our tickets were in the middle of a bunch of TT fans. Most obnoxious fans I had been around. Jamie Christiansen made a FG that was spinning sideways and cleared the crossbar by about 6 inches. All 10 of us in that section that were Bama fans went nuts, except for my dad who couldn't because he was afraid of messing up his back again.

That was the last game I went to with my dad. He passed away last year. It'll take an awful lot for another game to top that one for me.

It technically never happened though.

Your favorite bowl game victory was Alabama beating Texas?

Semantics.. AU was 2010 NC. But I know you're trying to be cute.

You still seem pretty mad about it. You must not frequent this board, because on any given day there are 100s of predictions that never come to fruition. It is the nature of a flame board, which I think we can all agree this is.

That's funny you compare everyday flaming to the ATPB thread. Nice.. This board revolved around that for at least 6 months, so yes, it does stick in my mind.

I remember a story after that 08 cotton bowl and I think it was you who said it, but it's one of my favorite stories.

Something along the lines of after the game the girlfriend yelling hotty toddy, and a condescending TT fan saying "what the hell does hotty toddy mean?" In a snarky tone, and the girl replying "it means we just beat your asses."

It might not have been you, but that story brought a smile to my face.

1986 Sugar Vols! Look it up, you'll understand. We were supposed to get killed by a Testaverde led Miami and a funny thing happened on the way to the slaughter.

The 1985-86 squad is the only team I know of that has a nickname like that. Ask any fan about the Sugar Vols and they'll know what you're talking about.

We so owned the crowd that Testaverde had to call a time out before his first snap. LINK

2008 Cotton Bowl

Me and a group of my best friends went to Dallas and did NYE, had a recovery day on the 1st, and had the game on the 2nd. My gf at the time had some sorority sisters who were from Dallas and their parents had a pretty slick tailgate set up with a rv, kegs, etc. The game was at 12 so we got their pretty early and were pounding beers and hearing shite talk from the passerby TT fans in all their precious pirate shirtz.

Walked right into the old Cotton Bowl (final time the game was played there, attendance was 88k) with a bottle of bourbon, could have brought a handle.

Our seats werent great but it was a damn blast of a game. OM went down 14-0 and then woke up to dirt-roll their punk asses. The way we just turned it on after going down 14-0 to an 11-1 team in front of 88k was just awesome. Was there with a group of my best friends, beautiful weather, and the Rebels absolutely dominated a team who had been the media's darling all year long.

And yea, I talked just a tad bit of shite afterwards.

Here's 'part' of the 'why' on the 85-86 Sugar Vols:

quote:

It was the Sugar Bowl all right, in New Orleans, and in the Superdome - but anyone would have sworn that someone from the Orange Bowl was in charge of the color scheme.

Everywhere anyone looked, from the plaza level to the terrace, there were miles and miles of orange splashed across the visual sea of 77,432, and most of it was Tennessee orange.

In the decibel count, the Big Orange won, hands down. The din from Tennessee backers was almost a solid wall of Volunteer screams, chants, battle cries and roars. The crowd howled and sang the strains of "Rocky Top" from beginning to end. If the skimpy Miami gathering sang a fight song, no one heard it. The Volunteers' crowd dominated the Hurricanes' followers more than the Vols dominated the ‘Canes on the field - and that's saying a lot, especially for the fans of an eight-and-a-half point underdog.

The Tennessee captains were ignored when they put out their hands for the traditional hand shake at the coin toss.
"They just looked the other way," White said. Running back Jeff Powell snorted, "They were very cocky. I don't think they respected Tennessee. All this week, Coach (Jimmy) Johnson was talking about the Orange Bowl and who's going to win, and that they should be national champions because they beat Oklahoma. They should have paid attention to Tennessee."

That's for sure.

Probably the BCSCG with Texas. I know it was weakened with the loss of McCoy and all, but I was just expecting a loss. As an Alabama fan during the Shula years as a kid I still wasn't sure of Alabama's success. The final five minutes of that game were the coolest thing to me.

I have to go with 2010 Cotton Bowl vs Tamu. Watching That arse beating after hearing the phrase "Hottest team in the Big 12" a thousand times before the game was very satisfying.
