Ehhh it's all about supply and demand. We bought ours for a good amount because I don't want to risk flying all the way out there and not get a ticket.

More solid advice, the Rose Bowl has basically 20,000 more seats than any of the other BCS venues. Plenty of ticket supply. Even with Alabama playing for it's first title in 17 years and the Texas fanbase, I saw face value seats being sold out there.

In-N-Out burger get the double double. Go to the first one you see because you can't eat there just once.

I'd rent a car and stay in Pasadena. Eat at Wolfgang Puck's place on the Sunset Strip. Also drive down to Santa Monica and check out the Pier and the 3rd Street Promenade. Several good restaurants there. Also check out Moosehead McGillicuddys on Colorado Ave in downtown Pasadena.
P.S. If you go the Chinese Theater in Hollywood there will be people giving away tickets to a taping of a sitcom if you're interested in that sort of thing. I'd suggest taking a studio tour which is kinda cool.

Rig, one thing to make sure you do when u go is make reservations at lawrys I believe it was in Beverly Hills, but not sure. It is the place that feeds both teams before the rose bowl and the nc game. Lots of cool history, pictures etc. Rose bowl was pretty cool setting not that impressed with actual stadium. Listen to everyone who says go potty before the game. There are no multi level tunnels, or a lot of restrooms. If u go to the bathroom at half, u will miss at least half the 3rd quarter. The pregame was really incredible from what I remember. It will be a blast. Good luck!

Have a good time man.
Great venue. Old, but has a mystique about it.
Beautiful setting around the stadium. Huge traffic getting too and from stadium.
Recommendations, it's LA, there's limitless food options and attractions. Get all touristy for a day and do Hollywood and what not.

San Diego is cool that's where we landed when we went to Southern Cal

San Diego is awesome. Love the zoo there too
if we're talking about other southern california places, I liked San Clemente (walking along the water) and San Juan Capistrano (mission).

they did some renovations to it recently, but the pictures with the mountains really look cool

but I recall many fans stating they were underwhelmed by the Rose Bowl stadium itself.
The stadium itself is old and badly in need of renovations. Thankfully, that is happening after this season.
But man the Rose Bowl is the best place to watch a football game in this country. No dome, how football was meant to be watched. When the sun sets behind the mountains towards the end of the third quarter, your breath will be taken away. Beautiful scene.
