You said "At this point saying LSU was the better team is ridiculous"

I said...at this point I would agree. What you just reference is the fact that I said LSU was the best team during the regular season. That fact cannot be argued. LSU was 13 - 0 and won in BDS. LSU was the best team during the regular season. AT THIS POINT, Bama is because the won on Jan. 9th.

I disagree.

Taking into effect both games I believe Bama was the best team.

Yes ya'll beat them once in overtime but how the game went down it left alot of questions on whether LSU was the better team. Hence it created a rematch in the NC game.

The NC game (at least to me) answered those questions and proved that Bama was the better team .

Sorry for the post guys.....was not meant to be a flame.

Hopefully sometime over the summer we will be able to get back to some civility on this board.

Still too much tension.

Should have just linked the article from the beginning.

Best is subjective. They had a better record, but being the "best" is opinion. Of course, when one is making a determination of "the best", the record is taken into consideration. However, LSU and UA were 1 and 2 in every stat and the Nov. 5th game was such that they are virtually identical. So, a person could make an argument that UA was the best team in the regular season...just like one can do it for LSU.

The discussion of "best" team last season ends in Nola. UA was the best team last season. There isn't anything untrue about this statement...

This is the MacArthur Bowl first presented by General Douglas MacArthur. Alabama's name is inscribed on this trophy six times, the most of any school.

Yes at this point it is ridiculous to say LSU was the better team even during the season.

LSU won a very close game in BDS. A game that was so close it forced a rematch in the title game.

In November the strong OPINION was that LSU was the best.

BUT the Title game BAMA proved they were the better team!

At this time you have to look at the whole picture and not just part of it.

MacArthur Bowl trophy presented by The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame. Alabama has won it 6 times.

you don't know the definition of "regular season"

9 is "virtually identical" to 6?

12-0 is "virtually identical" to 11-1?

undefeated is "virtually identical" to having 1 loss?

confused poster is full of confusion

Now that the 2011 regular and post seasons have concluded, I have not nor will I say the 2011 LSU Tigers are better than the 2011 Alabama Crimson Tide.

I will agree that LSU had the better regular season stats. The only problem is that there are no trophies for regular seasons (unless you count the SEC trophy). I would put the SEC Trophy as the second best trophy to win during a season, too.

And in the record books and from this time forward and according to the BCS rules, the record will include the bowl games. And LSU lost in the most important game of the 2011 season, the bowl game.

On my life I did too hahaha! That team was just a little better than most in the most down time of all college football. Bama this season was way deserving.
