Personally, I wouldnt gaf if we ran the triple option as long as we won

Ppl get caught up in the old thinking that the term "balanced" means you run as much as you pass to keep the defense from loading up either way. Leach was the guy who came out and said Balance is making the defense defend the entire field, that can be done by distributing the ball among all of your wrs and running when the numbers are there to do so.

Oh I agree, just saying DeBoer teams have never been balanced.

I for one hope that’s true. Grubb left UW after not being named new HC. No experience in recruiting down south.

Grubb is an excellent play caller and the addition of Huff means that Alabama now has the current Joe Moore award winner coaching its most vulnerable unit from 2023.

I’m eager to see what happens with the DC, but this is a very good offensive coaching staff. I know you guys are going to throw up stats and make your cases, which is fine and I have done the same thing when trying to downplay a new coach from another team, but Washington just beat Texas and played for the natty with a bunch of three stars and walkons. This coaching staff is good.

Alabama could bring in Mike McDaniels to run the offense and the pissants on the rant would be like, “Good. No experience recruiting. Total nightmare.”

Grubb will be our best OC since Sark and at worst the third best OC we’ve had in the last 20 years. We wanted him last year.

This is a big hire.

So, didn't rush for shite, but still finished the season in the top 5 total yards and played for the NC?

Oh, and he also beat Sark with half the talent Bama had. How did Bama's balanced offense do against him this year?

2020 national championship year:

2385 rushing
4656 passing

Saban didnt like those rushing numbers and your defense in 2020 but yall were still running 183 rushing yards a game.

Washington ran for 113 a game. There is quite a difference.

The air raid isn’t as radical today. It’s basically your average pro style NFL scheme. The 16th most pass heavy NFL offense this year threw the ball 57% of the time. Baltimore had the most run heavy scheme at 50%.

Rules make it easier to pass than in years past. Why not take the route of less resistance

People are blowing the Texas win out of proportion.

It was a terrible matchup for Texas, they have one of the worst passing defenses in the country while Washington has the #2 passing offense.

And Washington still nearly choked it away at the end with some terrible clock management.

Well, when Saban has Milroe he should run the ball. Saban loved running the ball and great defense. He got beat by a Michigan team that was played as if coached by vintage Saban. I dont know why he went with Washington's coach when he knows what really works. Taking care of the ball. TOP. Running the ball. Scoring. Great Defense.

Saban once conceded good offense beats good defense in 2020, but the other formula sure got him a lot more championships. I think Saban is making it easier for the coach to follow the GOAT to fail easier so that Bama can rebound quicker in the longterm...

This is true, but I'd imagine even with an absolute ELITE passing offense that you still need to be top 50 in rushing offense to win a title.

The guy that routinely struggled to score 25 vs mid tier PAC 12 teams with a Heisman finalist QB?

Just stop. No one is buying it.

Whether it's simply due to the personnel he's had or their actual philosophy, there's no way to pretend a DeBoer team has ever been balanced.

“Balanced” doesn’t mean what it meant even 10-15 years ago. If your offense is 65% pass 35% run you are considered balanced.

Pretty much.

No one is running the OG Mumme/Leach scheme anymore because things evolved as they always have.

UDub’s pass ratio was 58.88%, which is considered a major imbalance in D1 but wouldn’t even crack the top 10 in the NFL right now.

Err no that’s a VERY pass heavy and imbalanced offense by any standard. Only one current NFL team has a higher pass to rush ratio this year and that’s the ‘skins.

Err, Commanders.

Whatever.

Doesn't seem like DeBoer's teams have found them.
