Yes, football was good this year, and will be next year, just not as good as the SEC. And I realize the OP was referencing football only. But they're losing ground in every other area, which affects the overall strength and status of the conference.

It hasn't been as good as the SEC in a long time. And is it really losing ground in other areas?

They will still be a strong football conference. In basketball, you are losing a good program in MU and a recently good A&M program but you are adding an upper level BE team in WVU which to me balances the loss/gain out. In baseball you are trading A&M for TCU which is a wash imo as both are preseason top 10 programs and have solid programs long term.

You will quickly learn around here that no one gives a shite about "AAU" status because this is football we are talking about and not research. The BCS, NCAA tourney and the CWS could care less what your academic side is doing. It's about the product/brand you put on the field and the Big 12 is still going to have two of the top 7 programs of all time.

Strictly speaking in the 3 major sports the Big 12 isn't losing that much overall at all. They did a very nice job in filling their holes with WVU and TCU.

And I don't say this as a flame at all. I'm completely stoked to have Mizzou and A&M in our conference and to start getting to play you guys year in and year out.

A&M was an all male military university up until the late 60's. They call the students at t.u. sips because it was said they sat around sipping tea and protesting war.

The Big12 made a very good move by bringing in TCU.

It keeps the majority of players in Texas playing in the Big12. Missouri will only play 1 game every other year in Texas instead of 6 in or around Texas.

TCU is smack in the middle of Big12 country and should be a solid team for years to come.

I'm going to be pissed if the SEC with 14 teams makes the same money as the B1G with 12 teams.

That screws us SEC fans because I'll have to wait once every 12 years to watch Arkansas vs Tennessee with an 8 game schedule.

That part of the expansion makes me mad if this bears fruit which it easily can.

t.u. did not want TCU in the conference....they were against it but gave in to OU and Okie Lite's demands. It helps the OU schools more...Okie Lite now has a game in Dallas every other year and OU has two every other year...could hurt the sips recruiting in the metro-plex. TCU was the only team they could really add to get it to 10. TCU will not have the same success in the Big 12...at best they will be like TX tech.

WVU > Mizzou

Monticello, I've noticed that you seem to really dislike MU, and you've stated several times that we're not an SEC-type school. I hope you'll come to Columbia in October and let us change your mind! Our fans are pumped about this move, and I believe you'll find we have more in common with SEC schools than you think.

all of which are AAU schools, in just over a year and replace them with WVU and TCU, I think that's a big step down. (Well Nebraska was AAU when they left.)

It's impossible for me to explain how little this actually matters regarding athletic conferences.

TAMU loves to talk about potential, ha ha.

Well, TCU has more potential than Oklahoma State.

Same new shinny stadiums, good coaches and TCU has a better history. On top of TCU is located in Fort Worth 30 mins from Dallas and in the heart of Big12 Country.

TCU has more potential in the Big12 than TAMU does in the SEC.

50% of the Rose bowl in 2010 disagrees with you.

Considering Oklahoma State and TCU have almost the same size stadiums.

You can't tell me TCU doesn't pack the stands for Texas, OU and OSU over their former competition, ha.

WRONG Hog...TCU doesn't even sell out their stadium...NO fan support. They are more a lot like Baylor. Small private school and very little fan support. The only difference is they stayed in a weak conference and hired a good coach and won. If they moved to the Big 12 when Baylor did they would have zero success just like Baylor. Okie Lite has tons more potential then TCU..larger and better fan base and a lot more money then TCU.
