Bama is rapidly becoming a pedestrian onlu campus. They are doing their level best to deter students from bringing cars on campus.
seems like this is what many schools are going towards. personally, while it will look nice, i think it's going to make logistics a nightmare on gamedays at most places. i know i keep speaking of tennessee, but it's in the 25 year plan to make the entire campus pedestrian out side some smaller side roads. there are already roads from when i was there that are no longer. they are supposedly in the near future making the one major road that circles around the entire campus into pedestrian only. i just think that it will be more annoying than anything.

I did notice some VERY wide bike lanes (wider than the single car lane I think) that was actually pretty cool. Also, the buses were all Mercedes by the way.... (large vans basically)

quote:I thought about this as well. I've concluded that the bike lane will convert to auto on gamedays since its as wide as a regular lane. Just a guess though. I also notice several, like dozens, of 3-4 story parking garages around campus. None too high to be an eye-sore. It's inbred in me to hate Alabama ( ) but I was really impressed tbh. Ate lunch in the stadium club which was also brand new and very nice.

Already that way at Bama. All the campus parking is reserved though, except for the lots on the outskirts of campus, so that helps a little. It's really no longer all that much fun going to Bama games.

Yes to this. Then add some brick and white column buildings

It's never stopped. I was at Alabama from 2001-2006 and it was a construction zone the entire time.

I was there from 93-98 and I can't think of a single new building built during that time. Bruno library and Bidgood renovation had just been completed, and construction on Shelby Hall started during that time, but I can't think of any other large projects except the East upper deck at BDS.

"The 4 year graduation rate at Bama is 41%"
Meh. I graduated in 4 and a half years. Graduating in 4 years is overrated. Alabama's 5 year graduation rate jumps to about 66% which compares favorably with the rest of the SEC. Nice troll though.

exactly, it's much more common now to graduate in 4+ than it used to be. just looking at my pledge class my freshman year, i'd say more than half graduated in at least 4.5 years, and a good number in a full 5. and most of that extra time didn't result for poor academic performance

Been working here since 2008 and it has been steady-state building ops.

It isn't all that easy to graduate in 4 years unless someone takes a full class load every single semester. Plus a lot of students at most SEC like to squeeze in an extra football season/Fall semester. I was practically finished in 4 but purposely left myself about 6 credit hours short so I could have an insanely easy 2 day a week class schedule my final Fall semester.

Ya actually it is. Man card stripped if you follow whatever team is currently winning. Have some loyalty to your roots.
