Not to bring up bad memories but did the tornado mess up the campus? does that have anything to do with stuff looking new?

happening all over the country. Tennessee has probably done more and at least as much work than anyone. It's an arms race all over the country and not just limited to athletic department buildings. Really shitty how schools are losing money and tuition is growing at unprecedented levels, all while cutting programs and downsizing faculties, yet these schools continue to build multi-million dollar buildings on campus, one after the other.
Money is cheap right now - may as well build and build and build. Bama has a huge out-of-state student population, they are making bank from out-of-state tuition.

Not that I know of. I believe it almost hit the stadium, but moved. The most damage went to McFarland, Skyland, and through Alberta City. That's the most I remember seeing.

No. The tornado didn't touch campus. The wind may have damaged some trees, but that's about it.

Was there yesterday for something and literally every single building looked brand new with tons of new construction happening as well. Is this all football $ going to work?

I told the story. Last year my wife and I went to The University for a farewell event for her old sorority house and tour of the new one. We were driving on campus and I came to this intersection and there was a fountain in the middle of the road. Neither of us had a clue where we were, what the buildings were or what the fountain was for.

UGA is lousy with new construction.

It is ok because a degree from UGA is still 1000x more valuable than a degree from Alabama.

The 4 year graduation rate at Bama is only 41%. They are making money hand over fist from people treating it like a commuter school.

I really like the massing and detail of those new UGA buildings. They look like they will be very traditional in form.

i guess what i'm saying is it's a shame that so many schools are giant constructing zones all over campus, yet the academic funding is abysmal in comparison. excusing my fanhood, as a tennessee grad, i remember how difficult it was just getting enough credits in my major to graduate. they had cut so many programs and professors that you'd sometime have only one section of a course required for your major, and it was such a stressful process trying to sign up for that class where it would even fit into your schedule. and this was right at the onset of the entire campus being essentially rebuilt. less than 10 years later, and much of the campus is unrecognizable. tuition is more than double what it was for an in-state student when i was a freshman in 2003. and this is even with the state lottery that was instituted that very same year. based on the numbers, you wouldn't even think we've been in the midst of a giant recession since 2006

Do UGA alumni stand to make 1000x more money in their lifetimes? Are they gaining 1000x more knowledge?

To contain and move water in an infinite loop as long as the pump/motor is operational and there exists an uninterrupted supply of power to the motor/pump. Birds like to poop in them while they bathe.

It's no surprise that the most embarassingly large expansion going on is the business school. Georgia business people are pouring millions upon millions back into this thing:

Well during the recession when most schools were laying off faculty and closing departments, UA actually hired more professors. It's not an "either or" situation.
