With that said he has been handed an out of this world talented qb. I want to see what he does without Manziel.

I wouldn't trade him, but I would be happy if he was our coach. I wanted our AD to call him home when we were looking.

yes, no? I'm seeing a disconnect here. So many ranters say that ALL of aTm's success is JFF, and when JFF is gone, aTm will fall back into oblivion. That would indicate that Sumlin is just an average coach at best. So, why would USC, the NFL, etc. want an average coach?
I've lived in Houston for quite a while. Houston is not a power school but watching Briles and Sumlin come through has actually made the college football here be less awful.
I think Sumlin is a great coach and will win huge with talent. I think any team in the SEC should take Sumlin if they had a promise of a long tenure. Obviously I'd rather have Saban today, however if you said Sumlin would stay for 15 years, then I think you'd promise to be a powerhouse for a long time.

UH almost beat Saban at Alabama and they beat Miss State at home in 2009. Briles and Sumlin had some good teams, especially with Case Keenum.

too early to tell about sumlin. he inherited an incredible amount of talent on offense not counting JFF. JFF, of course, was an amazing bonus. the man has done well with sherman's players. is he a good coach? is he a great coach? jury is out. his national perception is very good. perception is reality with many folks, esp the uninformed and the shallow. when he has been around awhile we'll see if he's any good or just riding sherman's coattails. sherman's offense's were very, very good; tannehill is a damn good qb; add c micheals and imo the best OL in college football last year and you have an easy intro for a new coach. and i would no way trade him for les miles. miles is a damn good coach and he's LSU. LSU is a special place and miles belongs there.

No, as an LSU fan I can honestly say I'm very happy with the job Cam Cameron is doing.

He does a good job spreading defenses very thin with his schemes. I've never seen him with a good defense though. He should be able to build one now at a better school, however I would like to see how he recruits and his DC does with the defense.

For Saban? Hell no. Hypothetically? I don't know. Still too soon to know. I want to see what he does post JFF. We saw what he was like without his star QB in Houston.

How do you think 'Bama, Georgia, and LSU would all fare this year if they had to go to their 3rd string QB for the rest of the season starting with the 3rd game? Both Keenum and the 2nd string QB went down with season ending injuries in the 3rd game the 3rd string QB went from barely getting practice snaps to being #1 on the depth chart

Would be interesting to finally see Philip Rivers' lil bro sling the rock.

I don't think Alabama would bottom out to 5-7. Saban hasn't dealt with QB issues at Alabama, but he had some at LSU. He still managed 8 or more wins every year there.
