How well can he sell when the booster's and his Asst AD Barney are no longer sweetening the pot?

I also believe that kids these days are highly susceptible to recency effect. After a few years much of this bad PR will be forgotten and someone else will be in the news cycle.
The NCAA sanctions will be regurgitated non-stop in damn near every televised game, and moreso if Freeze is still HC walking the sidelines. The media attention will not fade any time soon. The idiot TV announcers won't let it disappear.

Will he be able to sell better than who replaces him where we are as a program? For this question you have to also consider where we will be as a program under each scenario and who would be more of a risk to not be able to overcome their respective situation.
These sanctions will be crushing. Freeze will at minimum be on sever restrictions on the recruiting trail with limited contact and visits with prospects. So who the hell can sell a program when the head man in charge can't interact with prospects?

It's all opinion, but I think other than St. Nick Saban he may be the next best coach in the conference, so I'd probably keep him. Of course, if Ole Miss kept him, suffered more severe penalties because of it, and then he split the scene after a few years, it would have been a mistake.

Without a show cause, I think they have to keep him.

He is a solid coach. Who else could they hire that could equal or exceed what Freeze could produce for the program?

Tough times are coming. Outside of a potential inside staff hire, it will take a HEFTY salary to entice any proven or "up and coming" coach to jump on that grenade and risk derailing a career. Paying that salary plus any buyout to Freeze and still expecting mediocrity at best for on field performance due to sanctions may not be worth the price of parting ways for the Ole Miss holders of the purse strings.

In any case, he isn't going to be let go until after everything is complete to include appeals IMO. Doing so only seems to admit Freeze's potential culpability in any wrong doing, which would serve as ammo for harsher punishments from NCAA.

Best decided by a vote of the other SEC coaches...with the statement, "Let who who is without a bagman cast the first stone."

If you don't fire him be prepared for the NCAA to park itself in Oxford and wait for just the slightest misstep. Your going to get negatively recruited anyway but if he stays its going to be slim pickens as far as recruiting goes. Also what decent assistant coach is going to want to come work for a known cheater? I say you guys keep him.

"Lol. At the fear on this board."

Fear of exhaustion from running all over your shite defense. 55-20, 470 yards rushing, 258 by the quarterback. Holy donkey balls y'all are terrible and about to get way way worse for a long time. Get your deck shoes ready buddy you gonna be fishing every football season for the next decade.

I think you should keep him. You're not going to do better and he will never leave you for another job. However, your statement above is total bullshite.

surprisingly (to me anyway) I agree with your points. the man can recruit and he can coach. if he is INNOCENT of wrongdoing keeping him might be the best thing for the program.

i'm not 100% sure what y'all are getting nailed for but my overall impression is that boosters have gone amok in paying top guys to sign. if Freeze wasn't in on that let him inherit the mess. as a caveat, I would make him sign a new contract cutting his pay.

Look he's not a great coach. Losing to Memphis, Arkansas, and Mississippi State does not impressed me when you have way better talent.

He should have taken Ole Miss to the SEC Title Game at least once since he was able to beat Bama twice. If I was any team but Bama I wouldn't be scared of him because they pretty much beat him.

If I were Ole Miss. I would go ahead and cut ties with the entire administration and get a good coach. Which being in the SEC with money they can do.

But most of the SEC fans I know want Freeze to stay. I'll give him credit. He's convinced Ole Miss he's worth more than his stock. Because he'd be fired by now if he was anywhere else.

Too much water under the bridge. He is tainted and is an albatross for the program. Time to say your goodbye's!

Freeze wasn't calling the shots so it really doesn't matter. If he is fired they will just hire another "yes man" that will do whatever the big money guys tell him to do.

Butler/Snow is named in the NOA from what I'm hearing.

Hugh Freeze is a very piss poor coach. No one is "afraid of him" except the trees in Auburn.

There would be no sense in firing him now. It is going to be difficult for any coach to get the players motivated to play this season. Bucky probably has the best shot.

However, if somehow the NCAA rules on this before the season starts, you would be forced to fire him.

Saban is afraid of him. That's all that matters.
