I think Vandy did that once before rule change . LSU wore Gold tops. No big deal.
1996.
Result: LSU 35, Vandy 0.
I think that was the original 'Gold Out'.

Vandy did it the year after LSU hired DiNardo away from them. Came to BR and made LSU wear Purple (edit - Gold). I think that was the first time I can remember LSU fans organizing a White Out in the stands.

Aggies vs LSU
2010 cotton bowl: RAPED
2012: Johnny raped
2013: MEGA RAPED
Who is really getting pushed around here?

Wrong. State made us wear purple in 2009. There have been several others.

I remember State and Florida both wearing white at home against LSU in the past 10 years. How was it viewed back then?

I like the Orange better for UF
The only team that I could see making LSU wear purple is MSU and they got hammered last time it happened.

I definitely understand tradition and everything, but those purple jerseys look rather awesome. waaay better than the traditional whites.

No. The don't even subject the home crowd at LSU to those terrible uni's.
LSU should just wear white and yeller all the time. The colors of cowards who surrender.

I can agree with this.
Way too much yellow and little emphasis on the purple.

At some point after the time LSU began wearing white jerseys at home in the late 1950s until the point where the NCAA mandated the home team wear dark, the purple jerseys came to be regarded in LSU folklore as bad luck. The whites became iconic and one of the most recognizable uniforms in college football. The fans became very attached to the tradition. LSU was ultimately successful in obtaining the right to wear white at home again, but with this change came a more recent tradition, not strictly observed, to wear purple for non-conference games, except for the home opener. The aversion to purple jerseys has largely disappeared. But forcing LSU to wear purple on the road is not generally a good idea. It tends to have the opposite effect intended.

Agreed. Football teams should wear dark jerseys at home. Period.

It's been done three times since 2000 (Miss. State twice, Tulane once) and LSU won all three, though Tulane led at the half in '07 and LSU nearly lost at MSU in '09. Go back to 2000 and Florida beat the crap out of LSU. In all four instances, the team that won had the better players and the better team.
You can go back to 1978, and Miss. State forced LSU to wear purple and won. Jerseys don't determine who wins and loses.

I like the purple jerseys. If I was CLM, it wouldn't bother me at all.

I love the white, I love these pro-combat from a few years ago. Wouldn't mind these for every game plus I like the darker gold
Beautiful

I'm still miffed Arkansas isn't wearing their throwback uni's for every home game. I wouldn't mind seeing LSU wearing purple to play against the Hogs wearing red but I know that won't happen without an act of Congress.

Why? LSU has worn white jerseys at home for at more than 50 years. Why shouldn't that tradition be honored? It is one of the great traditions in college football and adds to the mystique of Tiger football.

Dont think anyone would care. White at home is our preference. I think we still need opponents to consent to that so I guess that might bother some people. But who cares if someone makes us wear purple on the road. Also, we'd probably just wear yellow instead.
