There is no hook. I know that your A&M loyalty makes it impossible to acknowledge there are bigger schools than A&M, so I appreciate your silent affirmation.

Name one bigger school, expansion-wise, that y'all were looking at.

Texas, Oklahoma, Florida State, Miami are four that were considered and have more cache that A&M in terms of football.

Now, none of us wanted FSU or Miami, and as discussed Texas and Oklahoma weren't coming. So that put A&M in the driver's seat, and given the potential with A&M it was a good option.

Yup.

I am so happy that we had the season we did in 2011 in hindsight rather than our 2010 results. No way he gets the boot if the two seasons are reversed, which would have screwed us for SEC play.

Setting aside the trolling for a bit, the SEC effect on recruiting has made us the #1 choice in Texas for recruits, w/ no possible counter by UTx/OU etc. That kind of talent influx means that "third in the SEC West" (or #5 in the nation) is not our ceiling.

Winning a national championship would have done just as much good. You're leaving the door open for Texas to get in back in the picture. If they start winning under smart, you better realize you potential sooner rather than later.

We nearly lost to La. Tech in 2012. Who's to say a Baylor or OSU on the right day couldn't have closed the deal?

Kansas state and Oklahoma where the two best teams and they were 2 and 3 loss teams.

You really think A&M gets in over Notre Dame? I don't think that happens at all. Especially because Johnny Football in the B12 doesn't get his signature win over Alabama. He would be entertaining, but many would chalk him up as just another B12 spread QB.

I do.

Maybe i am underestimating the love for Notre Shame but I think most people know they had no chance against Bama. At least anyone who didn't have their head up football jesus's arse

Manti Teo almost won the Heisman. Think about that.

No. A&M needed a jolt only the SEC could provide. When Oklahoma turned down the SEC and the conference turned its sights on A&M, it shook the program out of a slumber.

We should have never given you that OU pointer a while back

We wouldn't have won one had we stayed because if the reasons I stated in my first post in this thread.

It's really a moot point.

Now he's just abused it to the point where it is boring. He needs a new lure.

I'll bite.

Short of adding a wild card like Notre Dame, Texas A&M was THE plum of any SEC expansion plans. Much greater than Oklahoma or anyone else. The SEC Network dictated it.

The ability to tap the population of Texas TV sets at $1.40 a pop dwarfs what any other school could deliver.

It's math, Jerome.

Look at who he was up against

Collin Klein
Braxton Miller
Marquise Lee

That was just a mediocre year for college football. Outside JFF individual season.

Which is why it was y'all chance to win.

Kansas State was #1 until they lost FYI

You're missing the point: the main reason Manti was even in contention was because he played for an undefeated ND team. That's it. Anyone who knew football knew he wasn't a prodigy at linebacker. That's the influence if an undefeated Notre Dame that we would have been up against.

How many times must I say it? JFF would not have started. Sherman valued seniority and the pro style offense over starting a redshirt freshman in the pro style O. And Sherman wouldn't have been fired if not for the SEC move.

In short, all things equal, TAMU would not have had the success they did in 2012 had they stayed in the big12.

a 2 loss season and a cotton bowl berth? You think staying in the Big 12 couldn't have gotten you all that?

Not with Sherman at the helm and Showers under center. Did you miss the TAMU 2011 season? Remember the way LSU beat A&M in the cotton bowl? Ags were up 10-0 in that game. And that was literally our best ever team under Mike. Sherman was notorious for choking away games, and would have continued to do so without Manziel as QB, which he wouldn't have been for the reasons I've already stated.

No Manziel, no spread, no 2-loss season. Simple as that.
