It was not like Texas went to UNC to hire Dean Smith

1. North Carolina is not a "lesser school" to Texas academically.

2. North Carolina is not a "lesser school in Texas".

I would love for Sumlin to let them think he was interested and then publicly spurn them after they made an official offer. Would be so choice!!!

This is what they fear. If they went after Sumlin and he turned them down and it became public they would explode.

On the recruiting trail, every coach everywhere recruiting against them would hammer this to death.

Texas would be dumb not to go after Sumlin. Young, energetic coach whose offense ha/ produced a Heisman winner. Sumlin doesn't care about defense but you don't need defense to win in the Big 12

The only way you're getting rid of Mack Brown is to get rid of DeLoss Dodds...but Dodds wants to pick his successor...they fricked.

This won't happen, at least not publicly.

I hope to God Texas inquires about Sumlin.

Would furnish the ultimate knock-out punch.

No. They know he's being carried by JFF and will die down after he leaves.

Does anybody know what Sumlin's buyout is?I've never even thought about it before so I don't know.
I think Mack's is 3.25M until Jan 1 and then goes to 2.75M.

I think Jan 1 is also the date that Dodds gets a 1M bonus if he is still AD.

If so, how much of it would be from sheer spite? This would make the Alabama/Auburn rivalry seem like a Kenny G concert.

They can come-a-courtin' all they want.

Sumlin's not leaving because Texas is no longer an elite program.

Why get Sumlin when they could get Bielema?

I seriously doubt it. Sumlin is decent but I'm curious to see how he continues after JFF is gone. All the aggies talk about the backup QBs like they're all just a notch below JFF and maybe they are but I think they are in for a rude awakening.

Texas will get a proven high profile coach.

Not happening. Muschamp is from Gainesville and his wife went to Florida. He's there as long as the Gators will have him.

Texas will pay him $4M. They will be desperate, they have fallen so far. Their defense is awful, and that is Muschamp's specialty.

Serious question though, why isn't Les Miles name being mentioned. Why isn't his name ever mentioned for any big openings?
