No. And we would ridicule anyone who did care about it. But you already knew that.

We are traditionally a baseball and football school. basketball has never been beyond #3 and can't even maintain that position long.

So "haha" to your thread but no.

Would any fan base care about a sport not named football if they sucked at it?

Some people care too much about a sport, that when it performs at a lower level than they think it should, they pull away from it NOT because they care less about it, but because watching how its become a dumpster fire hurts too much emotionally....

Why would I even care about basketball to begin with? It isn't a real sport.

That's right.. you listed 10 teams with only one being in the SEC. in the 1990's nobody cared about college baseball and LSU took advantage of that.

Do you even think about what you type before hand?

Our being good in baseball forced everybody else in the SEC to start spending money on baseball in order to compete. You are still mad because Bama's best in 1997 was not good enough. The proof is in the pudding, look at the spending by each university and you will see that I am right

Yeah because Skip Bertman, the best talent in the country, rosters filled with All Americans and future MLB players had absolutely nothing to do with LSU baseball's rise to greatness...
Just how stupid are you gumps!

I'd care that they sucked, but wouldn't watch all the games. Same as any sport with any fan.

If you legitimately watch every game of your team getting their shite pushed in, you're not utilizing the short amount of time afforded to you on this planet.

No. The only reason they care as much as they do is because they found a sport no else cares about in baseball. This allows them to succeed by default. It's not a coincidence that the rise in LSU baseball and its fan bases support happened in the 1990s when they couldn't compete in football.

I will adjust this a little- LSU football was in deep decline, and LSU basketball was getting hammered by the NCAA.
At that time, Skip had baseball in the process of becoming a dominant team in that sport.
It was a lucky circumstance; baseball is one of the sports most fans understand and can follow, and we were desperate as a base to have something to enjoy. Turned out you could go watch Bertman's team beat everyone, see a lot of homeruns in the process, and generally still spend a weekend afternoon or evening having a good time on campus.

I don't think it emerges otherwise, but it did. The rest of the SEC saw there was some money to be made, and followed suit.
