95% of people who actually live in Florida tend to forget that part of the state even exists. So why would the state's flagship university be located there?

I find it slightly amusing how all the poor redneck trash from Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, etc travel to the trashy Florida panhandle for their dream vacation. That's funny

The panhandle is a shite hole and is the red headed step child as far as regions of FL go. They do have some nice beaches but truthfully it's not a liveable area of the state at all.

Well a lot of parts aren't a shite hole. But the point is the panhandle is an isolated shite hole. No one lives in that part of the state. No one from FL really even goes to that part of the state. And the point of a state's flagship university is primarily to serve it's population. Kind of hard to explain, especially to people who vacation there and their main perception of the state comes from that area. The perecpetion of most FL natives couldn't be more different.

Fact is, some of those beaches are the best in the country or near the best...outside of one of the highest shark infested waters that is Destin
