Would Arkansas be a favorite to win the West if the 3 Jr's had stayed?

Hogs lost 3 big time players on offense to the NFL a year early and Jonathan Williams had an injury RS he could have used and come back too.

Would having Alex Collins a 3x 1,000 yd rusher, Hunter Henry the best TE in the NCAA last season and monster roadgrader Denver Kirkland back on the line have convinced people that Arkansas would be a legitimate contender this season when you couple that firepower returning and nearly the entire defense returning with some nice depth and 5* DE coming in on D with the freshman class?

I think we'll go 6-6 but having those weapons returning with our deep WR corps would have been really nice as we break in a new talented QB.

Probably not but Arky would be considered a very dangerous team. That said, with the style the Hogs play it's already difficult to not get worn the frick out playing you.

Of those 3, Collins is the one I'd most want back. He was a joy to watch run when he wasn't facing your team. Sure your OL opened holes but he was still physical despite that -- a lot of RBs let the OL do the dirty work but Collins was game for anything, imo.

It's like you forget that Tuscaloosa, Alabama exists.

Because you can't say the same thing about the actual school you root for in college football.

The gap is becoming negligible. Saban is on the verge of having himself a dumpster fire with all the transfers and the PR fallout of how shitty he treats people.

We've got the best QB in Alabama committed and when Gus gets fired there'll be a lot less trashing of Arkansas around the state and we'll pull more recruits from Alabama.

If you guys screw up the post-Saban hire and go with Kiffin Bama will be set back a decade as you try to fix his shenanigans.

Recruiting issues aside Arkansas has a lot more upside than most of the SECW teams in the near future.

1. Saban isn't Bill Snyder, he won't coach to the grave.
2. A&M, Auburn, LSU and Ole Miss are likely to have coaching changes in the next couple years.
3. In the East, SCarolina, UGA, Vandy, Mizzou maybe even UK made steps backwards with their last coaching hires and Tennessee's has yet to proven to be better than their last guy.
4. We're finally getting to a point where we have some depth. OL, LB, and DB are still areas to beef up with better talent and they're already addressed those areas in the '17 class.
5. Cycles, everything runs in cycles and Arkansas has talented young guys that will be experienced guys with talent soon. The last couple recruiting classes combined with this next one is full of guys that fit the schemes and philosophies of Bert and the coordinators. We've had to play a lot of guys out of their natural positions to mask the Petrino roster attrition, add in the walk-on program having Sr's and Jr's with 3-4 years in the program we'll be strong with experience as other programs adjust in periods of regime change.

Tolkien and George RR Martin would be proud of the level of detail he put into that fantasy.

You Hog fans simply pick any success your team has had and ignore the rest of history regarding the Arkansas Football program.

Your team has won 2 games vs. LSU but trails the series by a wide margin. You also ignore the fact thatby the time LSU played Arkansas it was in an emotional low point as LSU had lost a game to Bama which mentally drained them.

Usually by the time LSU plays the Hogs the pigs have already lost several games and are on a crusade to win enough games to get to some mior bowl game.

Congrats on your winning 2 games vs. LSU but I certainly can say anything I want about dominating the series with the piggies because it is the simple truth.

We are almost even with miles at the helm. Will be even after this year.

He did inherit a hell of a national championship from Saban though.

28 of the first 36 games in the series were played in Louisiana.

Since the games became home and home or bowl games LSU leads the series 15-10. It's not that big a gap.

So that's your excuse? LSU has only played Arkansas after Alabama two years now, yet Arkansas has won 5 of the last 9 games. Only two of those have been played the week after Alabama for LSU.

The same could be said for LSU as well. The one season in the last 9 years LSU was ranked in the top 3, Arkansas was in the top 3 as well when the two teams met.

Not to mention, can we use the same "what if they came back" criteria for the rest of the division?

considering they beat an average AU team in 4 OTs and had that one play against Ole Miss, most would say their record was better than their talent last year.

If we showed we can beat an average Auburn team

that should bode well for our chances this year should it not?
