Wagers is the gold standard of shite when it comes to SEC officiating. And I think he knows it and relishes it, too.

Wagers and Curles should not be officiating games. As many have stated, the fact that we know them by name says it all.

Slive doesn't care who the officials are and probably wouldn't know many of them by name. Steve Shaw has full discretion on who officiates and who doesn't.
Wagers isn't being let go because of performance. He is just getting up there in years. Happens to every official, and most have to be told it's time to step down. Penn will likely be working the replay booth going forward.
Then again, maybe he'll move to Vegas and become an Elvis impersonator.

Wagers is the 5th Horeseman of the Apocalypse. Death, Famine, War, Disease, Crap. Because when you hear that he is officiating your game the only response is "crap." Maybe it will be crap that favors you. Maybe it won't. But you know it will be crap.

Probably depends on who you ask. Arkansas fans hate Wagers and Curles, because both have screwed us several times. I don't recall ever having a problem with Ritter, though.

I believe it speaks more to the fans than the refs. Officiating a game in real time isn't easy and they make mistakes almost every play. Fans complaining about those mistakes as if they never benefit from them is insane. I am disappointed this thread was started by an Auburn sig.

It's easy to blame a crew or an individual, but Shaw & his league office crew reviews tape of every game the previous week with each crew. They then have an evaluation process after the game tape has been reviewed. So, if these guys are continuously calling games, it seems it's Shaw that is the bad guy here. I know a good friend, back in the early 2000's, was offered to call SEC games after calling games around the country for close to 20 yrs & he said there was "way too much B.S. politics" involved in calling SEC games. He also said Preacher Bobby Bowden was the most profane HC he ever had the displeasure to put up with in calling FSU games in his hayday.
