worst coaching job ever was LSU/Auburn 1994 where LSU threw 3 pick 6's in the 4th quarter to lose a 23-9 lead in the 4th quarter. Never seen anything close to this bad ever.

Worst LSU loss ever IMO. Hallman, hands down.

Y'all convinced me. How did he ever manage to get hired in the first place?

The LSU athletic director at the time was a horrible one named Joe Dean. Hallman's record at Southern Miss looked good at the time thanks to Brett Favre as well.

just curious - do you find that 94' Auburn loss "worse" than the 94' Southern Miss loss?

Orgeron is the winner and I don't think it's even close except for maybe Kiffin.
The guy is dirty first of all and his record was horrible.
The only good thing he did was he brought in a little bit of talent with his diry arse recruiting.

Kiffin could be the winner just b/c of all the F ups he had in less than a year at UT, the guy almost doomed the program and probably would have if he stayed any longer than he did.

I can't believe I'm about to even do this, but how was Coach O dirty?

Good question, they were both pretty fricking terrible.

On the one hand, no disgrace to lose to Auburn, who was very good in the mid 90's while Southern Miss is well, Southern Miss. On the other hand, the way we lost to Auburn was so incredibly stupefying, I have no doubt I will never see anything quite like it for the rest of my life. It will go down in history as the worst of the worst.

Coach O is the only one even in the discussion with Hallman.

Hallman Hallman Hallman Hallman Hallman Hallman

How in """"""""""""""HELLLLLLLLLLL"""""""""""
do you enjoy a 23-9 lead, AT Jordan-Hare, IN the fourth quarter, with Auburn's starting QB Nix knocked out, and a FRESHMAN QB Dameyune Craig backed up inside his own 10 yard line.............................................
And LOSE ????????????????????????????????????

Yes. It was just the way we lost. I was at the Southern Miss game and that was just as terrible. But the fact that Auburn was an SEC game, we were so close to winning, but the stupid coaches didn't learn from the first 2 pick 6s and kept passing on 3rd down.

DuBose's 99 SEC title season was an one time fluke. 3-8 record in 2000 season is a proof of that.
same thing with Shula's 2005 season.

I don't care how bad the Vandy coaches were. It's Vandy.

By this logic, you have to take DiNardo out of the conversation since he managed a 19 - 25 record in his 4 seasons at Vandy before going to LSU. That's the best winning percentage for any Vandy coach since Steve Sloan who only coached two seasons in 73-74.

Dubose may not have been the worst coach, but he may have done more damage than any other in the time frame.

yeah, the general consensus of the thread is Hallman or Orgeron. You could make a case for either.
