Like I said, I love great defense, and that game had a lot of that.

Control is a strong word.

But to your point... ESPN certainly devoted plenty of airtime to Saban and that BCS clown (Mark Edwards, a Bama grad)when they concocted the 'eyeball' test to rationalize a rematch.

99 Ole Miss vs. Memphis. Rebs won 3-0. I got in for free, and swear I overpaid.

Horrible special teams.

for what team? LSU's special teams are why they won the game

Nah...Inept offense

both offenses had no trouble moving the ball against anyone else that season. those just happened to be two of the best defenses in college football in recent memory

That's an easy one for me; 1997 game against State. It was the first game I got my wife to go to and it was about 20 degrees and a driving rain storm. State also beat our brains in. I also got arrested for punching out two frat guys that groped my wife after the game near Rammer Jammer's. Charges were later dropped but the other two guys ended up with some probation or something. Sucky day from start to finish.

Absolutely. Possibly the two best defenses in the history of college football. Still doesn't make it a fun game to watch. I LOVE great defense and I love a punishing run game. Both teams had both. but I just couldn't get interested. Truthfully, I though the problem was with me. Now, I see that I am not the only one.

For what it's worth...I didn't mind the rematch, either. I thought that game had the two best teams in the country going against each other. I still feel that way.

I didn't say there was no offense in the game. I said...No offense to either team.

Reading is fundamental. Crap, Larry. Seriously> Reread, please!

The only people who liked the 9-6 game were Alabama and LSU fans.

Now, I love good defensive football, but the build up to it as "The Game of the Century", and the lack of appreciation for good old-fashioned defensive football makes it seem worse than it actually was as a football game. I remember listening to the Cowboys game on the radio the next day, and both them and the Seahawks were both going 3 and out with lots of punts, and the announcers kept saying," look out, another Game of the Century is fixing to break out." Pretty funny.

I think it all just depends on our definition of the "worst" game. When I think of the worst game I watched I think of teams that played poorly because there wasn't a lot of talent out on the field. Those LSU-Bama game definitely didn't live up to the hype and could be considered boring, but from a talent stand point there is no way those games could be considered the worst games I've seen. I mean, I watched most of the UConn-Michigan game this year.
