Dude I can tell you that I dont have one thing against black people. God created us all equal and to think other wise is just retarded. I would have voted for Colin Powell if he would have run in 1996. I hate bigots or anything that thinks they are better than anyone else. Some of my best friends are black and I would do anything for them.

"I've got black friends"

Really though, I don't believe you're a racist. I just think you got swept up into the populist fear mongering.

People that dont work

You know a lot of people that work don't have health insurance right? Is there a problem with that? If you've had a menial job any time in the recent past like I did in college you'll know that a lot of places just flat out do anything they can to keep from hiring full time workers because then they'll have to pay for insurance. So people have to get (at least) two part time jobs and still no health insurance.

I make decent money, personally I don't have a problem paying a little more in taxes so that people without health care have an option when they get sick besides just fricking dying. Maybe that makes me a bleeding heart.

This is why I stay away from the political board here. I assume its probably not that different from the wacko far right nonsense spewed on tidefans.

I dont get swept up in anything. I form my own beliefs and that had to do with Bush as well. My family loved President Bush but I told them he was terrible. I speak my own mind and do not follow the crowd at all. And yes I am not racist, anyone who is just a hillbilly dumbass.

So, here we have a 35 year old woman.

She has a GED, a dead beat ex-husband who gives her no child support for her 2 kids, ages 5 and 8.

Her mother helps take care of the kids so she can work.

She works a 2 part-time jobs during the week and another on the weekend.

None offer benefits.

She makes too much money to qualify for any public assistance, but not enough to buy private health insurance.

What happens to her when she has a heart arrhythmia?

An EKG to diagnose her condition followed by a simple course of beta blockers and an overnight stay with monitoring is what she needs.

But she doesn't get it because she has no insurance.

THESE are the people that don't have insurance. Yes, there are deadbeats and illegals but anyone making them out to be the majority are ill-informed or fear mongering.

As much as the right likes to throw out Christian principles when it suits them, they sure are quick to forgo compassion for their fellow man when it doesn't suit their political agenda.

Good post.

We already pay for the really poor people with our tax money going to Federal assistance. If someone can't afford healthcare, the government already pays for it.

The insurance companies still price gouge, and we still pay for the worthless through our tax money.

The people who don't get healthcare are the hardworkin' folks that fall between the cracks.

I have great healtcare coverage from my Father's job, but not everyone is so lucky.

All I can say is my general premise that if you do not work for it, you do not deserve it. Maybe that means letting people die and starve

You are ok with letting thousands die just to save a few bucks out of your paycheck? If this really is your belief, then you are an evil disgusting excuse for a human being, and I'd rather subsidize those that you are so willing to forget and let you do without.

You are aware that many people who work full time are not insured, right? There are many others who cannot work for one reason or another.
