Because the conference hasn't been this bad in awhile and the odds that every other school just suddenly turned to garbage because they all hired bad coaches is alot less likely that the fact that one coach has just bought the talent from the conference (which signs have repeatedly pointed to since he arrived).
Even if this bullshite even had a shred of truth to it, it would not explain the utter stupidity of Malzahn's last raise and extension.

It's not an opinion or a prediction. It's an observation. The downfall of the SEC is not going to happen, it HAS happened. The degree to which Saban caused it can be debated, but it's safe to say the SEC has not bucked the trend of history in which every time one team has dominated a major conference the conference as a whole became weaker.

So let me get this straight. The conference has lost its edge. Losing out of conference games, and getting embarrassed nationally. Yet, you geniuses are going to blame the one team who can play with and beat anybody? I have news for you guys, it is your school's fault. Bama isn't bringing the conference down, the other schools are. Bama isn't under performing, you guys are. The conference has fallen off for sure, but Bama hasn't. So put the blame where it belongs. Bama is by far the best thing the SEC has in football.
See that little dot passing over in the sky WAY above your head? That's the point.

Bama's dominance has a lot to do with the rest of the SEC.
For example:
OC: Quality head coach at this position
DC: They updraded this position in the offseason by picking up Pruitt.
They also have the most expansive coaching staff anywhere combined with the best talent.
Other SEC teams are trying to mimic it and making desperation hires.
Herman to LSU might have given Saban competition, but that ship has sailed.
The ACC and Big 10 are the benefactors.
SEC will remain a middle of the road conference for a few years

I repeat. It's not Saban's fault. It's your dumb-assed athletic directors fault.
Hiring defensive coordinators or assistant coaches instead of proven head coaches is a downgrade.

Meh, that's a crock of shite.
If it's true then the anonomyous source needs to go a step further and claim it's the downfall of NCAA football.

Bunch of BS. Twelve SEC teams made bowl games this year. Seven were ranked in the Top 10 and ten in the Top 25 during the year.
Bama has been very good the last two years, but several teams have played them tough.

I'm waiting for a greenie to come on here and blame Saban for global warming.....the Man OWNS the conference.
I remember when Coach Bryant did the same thing.

Say Bama signs 28 players every year, they are at most taking 2 players from each team in the SEC.

Everybody just waving the white flag. No self respect. Sad!

I love how you put football in parentheses.
Our basketball conference is fricking atrocious.
I don't see any of you babies starting threads about how Kentucky is destroying that side of things.
But Alabama fans are the ones that ONLY care about football, right?

But a lot of Bama's 5 star and 4 star players were from states not in the SEC footprint. So Saban taking from every one.

They need to move the SEC home office somewhere besides BAMA. They got some crooked shite going on over there.

Alabama's success is the root cause that has causesd every SEC football program to mentally implode. Saban is 100% the spark, fire and source for Alabama's transformation over the last 10 years. Alabama has always been Alabama with the tradition, history and prestige. But Saban has taken Alabama to a place no other college has ever been in the history of college football. Period!!!
So what has his success meant for the other 13 SEC schools? It means above average is not GOOD ENOUGH to compete against him on a consistent basis. Therefore, school leaders and sports programs have been searching for needles in a hay barn in hopes they will find some new young guy to counter Alabama's success. They have thrown all the tried and true methods, strategies and philosophies out the window and are basically playing darts in the dark.
Until Saban hangs it up and leave Alabama. There is NO college school that can come close to accomplishing what he has on a consistent basis. And they all are currently falling all over themselves making horrible choices and mistakes that they would never have made prior to 10 years ago. Honestly, as a Bama fan we are Lucky, Spoiled, Fortunate and Proud that our school was the perfect fit for him to accomplish what he has to this point.
If you want your schools to get better and not worse or stop fluctuating from good to bad. Then go back to making smart and sound choices. Build a program and stop trying to build a Giant Slayer. Dont react to Alabama and Saban. Build the undisputed #2 SEC team and be in position to take over the throne when he is done.
Its laughable watching school administrators and ADs try to hit the jackpot every year with some new flash in the pan hire or some hilarious extension and pay raise as if to double down and prove to everyone they made the right hire when its evident they themselves are the wrong person for the job to build a successful program that can sustain sucess.

This is wrong. It's the vag behavior of Meyer that is the problem. With UF and Bama elite, as they were, there was balance in the divisions, and two elite teams in the conference instead of just one. It makes a big difference.
The ACC is a perfect case study. It was a garbage conference. FSU joined in 1992 in the middle of its decade long streak of finishing Top5 each year. FSU won 9 conference titles in a row. They won the ACC 12 of first 14 years they were in the conference. FSU didn't even have a conference rival or main contender for nearly a decade. Miami didn't join the ACC till 2004.
The only reason they slowed down was because Bowden was declining rapidly and couldn't even remember the names of players. He used to say "great run by number 42 there" on his show.
So, it took the ACC 15 years to get to some sort of parity and that was dependent on FSU faltering a lot.
If the SEC, in particular the SEC East, doesn't get its act together soon, it's going to become the ACC of the 1990s.

This year was a down year. The first ever playoff poll included Ole Miss and Mississippi state. A year prior to that Auburn played for a national title. This year A&M was in the first playoff poll.
The teams in this conference are collapsing down the stretch. That's a product of lacking discipline, not talent
