Why do some people insist on hating on college baseball? Is it a jealousy thing of schools like USCe, LSU, Ole Miss, etc that love it? Probably because people find it hilarious when college baseball fans claim its as popular and meaningful as college basketball or even women's college basketball.

College baseball fans, and there are thousands upon thousands in SEC and Big 12 country, do not find it hilarious. Schools like LSU, MSU and OM that typically draw as many or more fans to a baseball game than a men's basketball game have every right to say and feel that baseball is their number two sport. Those of us who enjoy baseball but don't view it as basketball's equal or better, should respect the opinion's and rights of others who feel otherwise.

I mean, I don't love college baseball but I'll support any athletes that work hard and compete for my alma mater.

And who am I to judge someone that loves it?

I love to watch college gymnastics and cheer competitions.

To each their own.

Why do some of y'all care what other people enjoy?

Why don't you go to a Big 10 board and have this big write-up on why they shouldn't care about hockey? It'd complement your body of work as a douche

No one here pretends to think the entire country cares about college baseball. That's not happening until more high school prospects go to college, which is slowly but surely happening

This thread comes as no surprise...

The top SEC baseball teams have a strong following that actually have fans show up to games

I drive 2 hours for big weekend matchups

For the teams that matter.. Baseball is the #2 sport

If someone said to me that I could attend either MSU home football games or baseball games but not both, I would give up my football tickets in a heartbeat.

College baseball is just a fun event. It is a great environment. It is family friendly and one of the few men's sporting events out there that is actually affordable.

IDGAF what you think.

I did not attend one LSU baseball game as a student from 1980-1984, even though Skip's first year was 1983. Of course when we started winning regularly, I and about 238,469 other LSU fans started taking notice

edit. Nice post GetCocky

I like attending games, I agree, it is fun. As long as we're all in agreement that it's not important and hence, being good at baseball in the SEC is equivalent to or below being good at women's basketball.

Pretty much this. I like college baseball well enough, but it is what it is. I get that it's bigger at a couple schools, but nationwide, it's totally irrelevant.

Sorry I cannot agree with that. IMO you can't compare college baseball to women's basketball.
It's apples and oranges.
It's an individual thing. I love LSU baseball and women's basketball, but the thought never entered my mind to compare them.
BTW LSU baseball outdraws women's basketball on average. Not by my much, mind you...

I would say the same thing about college baseball.

I don't really care for either, but if it's on the TV and I'm feeling lazy I won't change it.
Im sorry, if a man looks at me and tells me he can watch womens basketball the same amount as college baseball, then, well i just dont know, i just dont know

Yes, I did. LSU in the 90s built college baseball. Viewership of the sport during that time suggest the majority of college baseball fans feel the same way. No one wants to watch a 1-0 college game, with the pitchers throwing 84 mph.

College baseball is fine, but its no more important than scooer, lax, womens bball, softball etc..

Its just irritating , when some like to call it the Big 3 just to make themselves feel better .

College baseball ratings are awful, and 99% of the teams lose money on it , just like all of the other sports; other than Football and some Men's Basket Ball teams.

All of these loss revenue sports are great for the college experience and for some students to get school paid for; but they are no more important than each other including and especially baseball.
