Pretty much from the 50s on....
UT was almost always our first or second SEC game and UGA and UAT the last two. Florida tended to move around more within the schedule.

The way I remember it, Georgia Tech became an independent so they wouldn't have to share their revenue with a conference. Totally gutted what had been a top notch program.

I kind of wish Tulane and Tech were still in it.

Not to hijack a thread but was this ever an official Bama logo
Lady at my son's baseball game had it the other day. I loved the block letters but can't say I recall the mascot. Looks like Dumbo with a "A" hat on.

UF was within the last 4 games, I believe you would see MSU somewhere in the last 5 weeks. Keep in mind they also played GT every year.
Also remember not playing Ole Miss and LSU very much.

here is a cool graphic that shows year by year helmets & some old logos for the SEC (sans aTm & Miz)
including the link because it is easier to see when you size the picture up:

You did not hear many complaints about the schedule back then.
damn right.
Actually, yes you did. Teams went decades without playing each other. Some teams played 7 conference games, some only 6 and, occasionally, only 5. It was a mess.
Alabama fans in particular were furious in 1979 when Georgia was 5-4 overall but 5-0 in the SEC vs. UM, LSU, UK, VU and UF going into its SEC finale against Auburn. With a win over Auburn, Georgia would win a share of the SEC title and the auto-bid to the Sugar Bowl over undefeated and eventual national champion Alabama because the SEC and/or Sugar Bowl at that time resolved ties for the title by least recent appearance in the Sugar Bowl. Fortunately, the crisis was avoided when Auburn beat Georgia, giving Alabama the title outright.

Why? Would you really want another SEC program in Louisiana?

I was a little kid - one of the ladies that my mom carpooled with was FURIOUS that week, I mean, really pissing and moaning
so much so that I remember it well to this day(I was 11 at the time)
she was ADAMANT that UGA WOULD NOT be a legitimate SEC champion
she was an Auburn fan, I lived in Atlanta
your post made me remember a very uncomfortable ride home from school...
