A toast to a better time, before 1990.

After 1966, when it was just 10 schools in the South playing football and partying.

frick expansion.

I remember playing TN every year and then finishing up the season with UF, UGA and Bama. You did not hear many complaints about the schedule back then.

It was easier to win the conference with fewer teams.

Was there a nickname for this stretch of games, or am I mis-remembering?

Not sure where that graphic comes from, but Arky and USC joined at the same time. Invites were given to both in 1990. Both teams began play in basketball in the 1991/1992 season and fully participated in 1992 spring sports.

We talking 70s, 80s ... what?

Will wait for your response.

BTW, I know all the Irons boys very well. Sr., Jr., Kenny and the cousins. Good guys ... in their own way.

Georgia Tech ruined their own football program because they were so butt hurt by Bear Bryant.
