Whisky is continuing to up recruiting south of the Mason Dixon line... one more from Alabama...and a good one for Wisconsin.

This gray-shirt freshman is a very good LB prospect, good character and work ethic. He just saw that it was going to be difficult to fight his way up a LB ladder filled with 5-stars at Alabama.

"It didn't take Christian Bell long to find a new school.

The former Alabama linebacker announced Thursday that he is transferring to Wisconsin.

The ex-Hoover High School standout announced his plan to leave the Tide and transfer on Sunday"

Bama is so loaded with talent a very good player could spend his entire career riding the bench hoping to get on the field during garbage time. Smart move to transfer where he can get some quality time.

You should see the comments on the Larry Leo post about his transfer. Apparently Bama is evil for mistreating this kid.

Bell chose to transfer. He wasn't kicked off to the team.

Interesting. Probably talked into it by his buddy Bradrick Shaw, a RB from Hoover who signed with Wisconsin from the same class as Bell.
If Darrell Williams wasn't going to get plenty of playing time for AU this year they'd probably be on him too.

he did and he has. Bell was the grayshirt from that class, saban honored the promise and got him on scolarship, and would have continued on scholarship. Its just he was never going to see the field and he knew it. I mean, guys like christian miller are still working to get time, bell had no chance

I'm glad someone answered this while I was busy.

Unless someone isn't doing what they're supposed to do, they stick around. Tyler Love and the Polynesian center stick around forever. Others want playing time and transfer. We're just do deep at lb, he knows he'll never get meaningful playing time. Even Dylan Moses commented on Bama being too deep at lb, and he's an elite recruit.
Once he's eligible, he'll probably start for Wisconsin.

I wish the best for Bell.

Bell wanted to show up and show he could play, and in the end he decided he wasn't going to be able to and wanted to go somewhere where he could (which is about 95% of schools).

He was a greyshirt, which means he knew how much the staff valued him in relation to other guys when we signed them. Here are guys we have signed in the past 3 classes to compete with him.

5 star Rashaan Evans
5 star Ben Davis
5 star Lyndell Wilson
5 star Christian Miller
4 star Shaun Dion Hamilton
4 Star Adonis Thomas (also transferred)
4 Star Josh McMillon

Yep. Plus, since he's an instate kid, I'll assume that Bama was his dream school. He knew he odds were heavily stacked against him, but came anyway. That says a lot about him, imo. I'm just glad he's going to a place where I won't want to cheer against him.

What does Larry's pecker and LSU have in common?

They're both are always purple.

If Hand isn't a starter yet, you should know that it is hard to see the field at Bama

It was dumb for him to accept a grayshirt offer at Alabama in the first place since he could have gone to many other major programs. A grayshirt offer from any school is code word for "we don't really want you anymore and wish you would just de-commit because we have better players at your position, but we don't want to look bad by pulling our offer." Hopefully someone explained that to this kid, and if he made the choice to come anyways then now he is seeing why people told him this.

Hey SoG, I'm sure you know which grey shirts have contributed at some point.

Last year Bama team had the best defense in college football and lost quite a bit but will reload with new players just as good. Losing players to graduation and the NFL is common and the Bama pipeline just throws a great player back at you. Players have to be patient and may not get to play until there junior or senior year and some call it processing and some call it running them off but the bottom line is player to player on the roster they have the most depth in college football.

Being a LSU fan I think we have a good talent level and just not the depth.

Off the top of my head John Parker Wilson and Bradley Bozeman.
