I'd rather visit MSU than USCe. NOTHING near USC's stadium

Agree, worst location and stadium. Throw in the constant boom box noise to make it seem loud and it is just awful.

Have you guys ever updated the concourse on the visiting side of the stadium?
When we were there in 2006 it was like stepping into 1960-70ish. Old looking, run down. Chainlink fencing and concessions and restrooms that were horrible.
That's probably the only stadium concourse I thought was worse than War Memorial.

The Brice isn't THAT bad. It's a decent stadium in a boring location, good for Carolina that their upgrading.

I remember when we went, we were tailgating next to old warehouses. It pretty much sucked.
I remember before that trip seeing WBrice on tv and thinking it was a worthwhile trip. The atmosphere seemed cool and figured the stadium was nice.
We were pretty disappointed in our trip I guess. Also, I'm not a fan of mustard base BBQ

The thing I like the most is that we stole the AD that came up with all these changes at sCar. The future looks good!
True.. or that crap in bama made from mayo. WTF?

you guys have the absolute worst location for a stadium in the league. Nothing but a fricking gas station in walking distance. It would be like if they plopped Tiger Stadium down in the middle of the Industriplex
USC was established by the legislature as a leadership school, so it was situated on property adjacent to the capital building in an existing urbanized area. this happened back when Louisiana was property of France, so we never had the luxury of having open land all around the campus. UGA and UNC which was started around the same time as USC were set up in rural towns, which was probably the way to go in hindsight.

It will never be as scenic as an on-campus stadium. We are stuck with the location next to the fairgrounds.
The comments about the warehouse/industrial district were accurate - particularly 10 years ago. However, the University -- finally -- is doing something about it. The Farmers' Market will be fantastically nice. The Fairgrounds is already nice -- having been upgraded about 4 years ago. The interior and exterior of the stadium has been decorated in garnet and black -- it looks 100% better than the bare concrete of the Holtz years. Even the cockabooses got repainted this year.
The biggest improvement this year will be the elimination of parking next to the stadium. If you've been here, you know the stadium sits in the middle of a giant asphalt parking lot. High dollar donors literally parked 1 foot from the staidum (why you would want to park your Escalade or Range Rover where 80,000 football fans have to walk past it is a mystery to me). The asphalt will be ripped up and replaced with brick walkways, fountains, planters, and palmetto trees.
If you're looking to "tailgate" in bars and restaurants, we can't offer that. It's not downtown Columbia, let alone downtown Athens, and never will be. What we will have is a really nice stadium and tailgating area -- comparable to Auburn and LSU minus the campus buildings(places I have been that have big fields where people park and tailgate).
For visiting fans, you still may get stuck parking at a commercial business - which may very well be a warehouse or something equally nondescript. The really good parking is taken up by season ticket holders. But, hey, you're welcome to join us. I'll happily feed and drink you -- so long as you don't complain too much about barbeque and frogmore stew. I promise there will be no light beer at my tailgate.

It was also built near the fairgrounds due to the fair itself. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the thought was build it next to the fair and people who go the fair will end up going to the game as well, and vice-versa. This was particularly true of the SC-Clemson game, which I believe the 1st couple dozen games of the series were only played in Columbia for that reasoning.
The location is crummy and for a while it was just a giant colorless concrete structure in the middle of warehouses. Now the University is taking control of its nearest neighbors, the farmer's market and the fairgrounds have already been discussed, but also there are private properties that look nicer than old warehouses and are meant for USC including the 2 off-campus student housing within a half mile of the stadium and easy to walk to (University Oaks and Stadium Suites) I can't remember the name of this place to save my life but you can see that big red building next to WB, those are fairly new condos that are expensive as hell that are leased out primarily to rich Gamecock fans. You'll see Gamecock flags and banners hanging off them regularly, especially during game time.
Again its still off-campus but the area is starting to embrace being a part of the stadium atmosphere and starting to make it more campusy. Hell the fairgrounds now flies a giant arse Gamecock flag during game days and during most of the Fall, something I don't believe it ever did until the last couple of seasons.
There are still old crappy warehouses in the area no doubt but it is improving.

There is view driving into Columbia from a certain direction where you can see the stadium and the skyline from miles away. Pretty cool.
Also, mustard based BBQ FTW.
