Tennessee better get used to their new name, the "University of East Tennessee".

It could. When the needs of the few (Bama, UGA, Auburn and Tenn) override the needs of the many (The rest of the SEC).

This goes back to them being entitled little bitches. They feel like it is their birthright to win 11 games a year because of how they did '01 to '09. Now that they have had 3 years of shite teams they have gone to this "I don't care" attitude, like a child with their feelings hurt. These are mostly their younger fans who don't remember the way A&M beat their arse from '85 - '95.

Well, UT was called East Tennessee University from 1840 until 1879. I figured a fan of Peabody College would probably know that.

Which loss hurt more this year, Alabama steam rolling you for the tenth time, or Mizzou/Vandy/finishing 1-7 in SEC play? It is all relative.

auburn is going to rat everyone out once they finally get the death penalty and we are forced to kick them out

Not sure about falling like the SWC, but Auburn will definitely be the one to try to pull everyone in the burning building with them.

It was pretty gross. 8 decades of texas arrogance engrained the "texas hate" in most Arkies.

It had to be terrible being an Arky fan during the swc yrs. Every team you played had Texas across their jersey.
Not to mention that all of the refs were from Texas as well.
A&M lost one home game in my 4 years in school. It was because of a ridiculous PI call on 4th down against Arky when the official who made the call was a former Arky Letterman. They changed the SWC rule (how it wasn't a rule is mind boggling) that if you went to a school you couldn't ref their games after that.

his article is garbage.
1. The SWC had 2 big time schools, 1 middle tier school, and a bunch of non-BCS caliber schools. That just would not fly. It had nothing to do with SMU and cheating. The SWC would have died even if SMU was never given the death penalty. And the SEC is going along just fine even though Alabama makes regular visits to NCAA jail ever 15 years or so.
2. The author totally misreads the hatred between Texas and Texas A&M. Texas A&M hates Texas with a passion. Texas does not hate A&M. A&M is a non entity to them. They do not exist. They are a blip on the radar, no bigger than Texas-Pan American. That is how arrogant UT is...everyone hates them but they are too high and mighty to care about those other texas schools.
You are clueless. In the '80s before the SMU death penalty the SWC was a powerhouse. Texas was a power in the early part of the decade and a fumbled punt return from winning a Natty in '83. SMU with Dickerson was incredible. A&M was a Top 10 team that won 3 SWC Titles from '85-87. Arkansas was a consistent power that won in '88 and '89 and was a bowl team annually. Houston had a Heisman winner and pioneered the Run and Shoot while always being a tough out. Baylor under Grant Teaff was a consistent Top 20 team that won the SWC in '80.
It may not be the current SEC but the SWC played some serious football prior to the SMU Death Penalty and Arky leaving. After that it was pretty much just the A&M show with Texas making the occasional peep.

Maybe. Is there a pool and sliding doors, but if you looked at it during the day time it would look like a really run down country club?

Ya, that's it. It was a funeral home prior to being a Persian night club.

The SEC will NEVER be like the SWC for one reason, and ONLY one. Pay attention, because this is very complicated:
The fricking longhorns are not in the SEC.

I take that as a compliment coming from the most arrogant texan on the SECRant. I was born in 69 so I have plenty of SWC memories .

Once again, the new and improved Southwestern Conference.........
LSU
Arkansas
Texas
Texas A+M
Texas Tech
SMU
Rice
Baylor
Houston
TCU
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
Huge TV contract to include Saturday afternoon and Saturday night prime-time game every week. (To accomodate LSU) No more home games moved to daylight LSU'ers.
