You nailed it. Muschamp got UFs defense toughen in year one of his tenure even though it was tethered to a horrible offense that had declined during Meyers last year (2010)

In his second year Muschamps defense was rock solid and we went to BCS bowl...but our offense still was a detriment and cost us. He tried three OCs, Pease was the worse stat wise and we had 2013 with a ton of injuries and had 3rd string qb starting by years end. Boom was snakebit.

Im glad we finally have offensive minded coach ..but hope we can remain stout on defense in the seasons to come.

You post this somewhere in every thread. Not sure if you are just AUbsessed or if you secretly long for JJ's BBC to rammed down your pussy throat.

If you want to call him the best DC in football then yes I would say overrated. Top 10 even top 5 is more accurate. He is a great defensive mind. Be careful when you point to the 2012 Gator defense though. It was lead by Urbans guys and our D coordinator Dan Quinn was most likely a much larger factor in that D than anyone would give him credit for at the time including myself. He went on to lead a Seattle D to a Super Bowl victory and took them to another prior to landing the HC gig at Atlanta. The half time adjustments made by Quin were simply incredible and they were not on that level after he left.

Muschamp as a HC was an abomination and I still want to puke when I see his face. I'm sure my disdain for him will dissipate as time goes on but for now I simply can't stand him after what he did to the UF program. I'll admit it I'm irrational.

From what I understand he is very divisive which makes sense seeing his demeanor. I would think his coworkers either love him or don't care for him much at all. Not much in between. Point being as a coordinator his X's and O's are top notch and his players love him and he should do well for AU in the short term for sure but it will be interesting to see how long he can stay on AUs staff prior to wearing on other coaches or just wanting to leave and try being the main guy again.

I wish him the best as long as he stays really really really really really really far from our program!!!

His defense was nothing special at UT and he BOMBED at UF. Did he make his name and money off of Nick? Or is Muschamp really a good D coordinator and I'm wrong about him?

he had a great defense at Florida. He bombed but his defenses were always good. He also did a great job at Auburn.

Listening to Hani and Rish (sp?) talking about Muschamp and I'm not impressed. I've never been a fan of Muschamp. His defense was nothing special at UT and he BOMBED at UF. Did he make his name and money off of Nick? Or is Muschamp really a good D coordinator and I'm wrong about him?

You are wrong about Muschamp. His defenses at UT were always solid (even after Mack lost his mind). He doesn't need Saban to be successful.

He definitely wasn't ready to be a head coach, but that's UF's fault, IMO. They should've hired a guy with head coaching experience.

Will Muschamp has only coached two defenses that ranked outside the top 20, FYI.

Has he ever been DC for a team that ran Gus's offense?

He's a great d coordinator when his only job is to shut up and coach the defense.

No one is saying he is a great head coach. His defenses at Florida were great.

Good point- good coaching is good coaching so it should still work out well for lil'bro. But being a DC for Gus is like being the Ace pitcher in Colorado....some shat just ain't gonna go your way.

It seems to go our way when we play you guys!

Don't be bitter about not getting into UGA. AU is a fine backup school.
