In short, the answer is probably not. As a lifelong UK football fan, I've learned that it's a lot easier to deal with getting kicked in the nuts over and over again if you just expect it to happen and accept it before the season starts.
But the 5% of optimism I still have towards UK football is working hard to convince me that this is the year we turn the corner, beat the teams we're supposed to and pull off a few upsets. Like I said, I don't expect it to happen but a man can dream right?

I like how your pessimistic prediction still has Kentucky beating Louisville.
If the teams were evenly matched I could see Kentucky pulling the upset. But Louisville has better players and a better coach. Kentucky has the home field advantage I guess, but that's not exactly a tough place to play.

Why do you care what UK does this year? Arky isn't on the schedule.
Probably because Arkansas expects to have a better season and yall raped them in basketball this year, I mean really, I hope you wore a condom.
PS you raped Auburn as well so I would not be crushed if we slap you around in football. (Wish you well in the rest of your games however!)

I am afraid of the road trip to Lexington this year, in all seriousness. We will have to win with defense and UKs tall QB is better than most think.
At least our secondary is the best in country...and our DL and LB play will be a LOT better than most think. But our OL is so thin....will be a challenge.
UK will also have the memory of a 3 OT loss to us last year and Stoops will be screaming at the team to wipe out the winless streak.
He isn't going to be close to hot seat status for two years and I think he is going to upset some teams and will be going to a big time football program because of UKs basketball focus. He has already shown he can recruit and all he needs is a few missing pieces.

One top 25 class isn't that impressive.

Louisville probably has a better coach, but we have better players finally. Plus, I think bowl eligibility will likely be hanging in the balance and the crowd will be fired up. I think we beat UofL.

Duh....did you realize that UK usually is ranked somewhere in high 40s to 55 in recruiting? For a new coach he has acquitted himself quite well. He will most likely do a little better recruiting this coming year....but he cant compete with the $$ that Bama, AU, LSU, UF & UGA have and the resources are stacked elsewhere...but if he can recruit top 25 he is doing well.

He's had one top 25 class out of three. That class is starting to look like a fluke. It's not like he's consistently recruiting in the top 25.

Stoops has the same number of top 25 recruiting classes (1) as Bert does in three seasons, according to Rivals.
Stoops has the same number of SEC wins (2) as Bert does in two full seasons of coaching.
Stoops has 3 less wins (7) than Bert (10) does in two seasons of coaching.
I guess the real question here is "Will Arkansas make a bowl game this year?"
Really makes you think.

I don't see anyone in this thread claiming that Bielema is a good recruiter.

Kentucky really lacks the size to be competitive with other teams in the SEC.

Obviously you have no idea how much Joker fricked up the program. Stoops has had his work cut out for him.
Must suck to be an LSU fan. Y'all will never be Bama and that kills you.
Let's not pretend UK was a powerhouse prior to Philips. How long was that losing streak you guys recently had against UTK again?
A long time.
And if you want to bring up arbitrary points. How bad was the UK team that beat y'all in 2007?
I know. I know. "But wees won da champ'nchip in 2007"
Still beat that arse.

Exactly. But he's better than Stoops.

I don't think they will. Schedule is too tough for them. Loses to missou, Tennessee. Florida, Georgia and probably south Carolina at least lose to Louisville. They'll be lucky to have a winning record
Posted on 4/23/15 at 12:44 pm to Stonehog
Na, hes not. If you switched coaches bielema wouldn't be doing close to what Stoops is doing at UK. Time will tell

I am penciling in 4-1 with 7 toss up games that could easily go either way. UK should win at least 2 of the 7 to make a bowl. UK's offense will be much improved, mainly through more size and experience on the OL and a year's experience for Towles and the WR corps.
A few comments:
@Carolina: USC has overachieved in football the last decade or so but over time they and UK have been about on the same level. I see USC returning to form as the Spurrier years wind down
Florida: EVERYONE says this IS the year that UK will break the streak and beat UF, which tells me that it probably won't happen this year.
Mizzou: UK has Mizzou at home; they are offensively challenged, UK is better, and they will overlook UK. Sounds like a recipe for a win to me.
Auburn: UK has them at home and I suspect AU is quite a bit overrated. I remember a few years ago, UK went to Auburn and was a big underdog, but pushed the tigers around like ragdolls, ran the football, and came away with a win.
Miss St: MSU lost a lost off last year's team and may be severely challenged on offense. If UK can stop the run they win, a big "if."
Tennessee: UK has them at home and played horribly against them last year. UT will be overconfident and aren't as good as they think they are.
Louisville: UK has them at home and is hungry for a win, and will be much improved, but there is still a talent gap there. UK has closed that gap some but is that enough for a win?
