It's not that LSU won't embrace a rivalry with Florida, it's that Florida won't embrace LSU as a rival - with good reason, LSU is a rival killer. SEE: Tulane, Ole Miss. NO ONE wants to be LSU's rival and end up like those two programs.

That is the case w/ alot of fans from many of the SEC schools, but this was because they were such a powerhouse year in year out and always labeled cheaters, etc.

You can't deny though that the fan base as a whole didn't have the level of alabama hatred before the Saban hire as it does now. The butt hurt was and still is extrodinary

LSU drinks too much to remember if they have any rivals. They just wake up, look at the schedule, and start hating the next team.

This.....+1000

We DO hate everybody.

+1. I was going to suggest a comparison of the balance sheets of the UF UAA with those other ADs and LSU's, but your method seems much more simple for the corndogs to comprehend.

Mkay, tell that to Alabama as they waltz through the easiest schedule in the league next year

Where was the outrage when Tennessee was kicking Bama's teeth in year after year during the 1990's and early 2000's?

Now that Bama is a class team, UA should quit playing the Vols? For real? Why do you never hear the Gators cry about playing LSU?

They whine about us getting to play Auburn every year so it's kind of similar.

Have you ever out kicked your coverage with a gf and realized you're just out of your league? Well LSU knows they have done that with UF, but instead of just enjoying the ride they've developed this huge complex about it.

Just because a few posters think it's not fair we have to play UF every year, doesn't mean it represents an entire fanbase.

LSU/UF is always a huge game and I love watching them play. Bama has been getting the nod on scheduling within the SEC for awhile now. Neither of these are false statements.

LSU-Auburn is not a rivalry. Was just intense for a few years. Back to just another important game now.

LSU fans enjoy playing UF, it's usally a good game and it goes back and forth.

But we aren't their rivals.

Pretty much this. The LSU-UF series is almost always good football. I don't hate UF though, so I don't consider it a rivalry.

Some of the older fans might hate them a bit more because they still remember Spurrier running the score up, but he did that to everyone.

I consider Auburn, Alabama, Ole Miss, and Arkansas to be bigger rivals than UF.

Also, if you pull your head out your arrogant arse you'll see that it is clearly in our interests NOT to play Florida every year

SEC head office is trying to make things happen.

SEC head office has an agenda, no question. But fostering some made-up rivalry between LSU and Florida isn't part of it. Move 'Bama and Auburn to the East, and Mizzou and KY to the West, and have LSU play 'Bama every year--that's a rivalry.

As a LSU fan, alumn, current student, and Baton Rouge native i can say that through my experience LSU doesn't have a "traditional" rival.

This makes sense.

LSU has played Tulane more than anyone but with Tulane de-emphasizing athletics the series ended. In two years LSU will have played Ole Miss in more games, but this is not much of a rivalry due to LSU's lopsided record in the series.

After Florida the next team with whom LSU has played a considerable number of games would be A&M. Yet that rivalry had long stretches (nine, 15, and 19 years) where the teams didn't play (the 15-year stretch being broken due to a bowl matchup). Now that LSU and A&M are conference foes, and the schools being near each other (and often competing for the same recruits) this may have the best chance of developing a "traditional rivalry".
